Course Information Course Overview In the hospital setting, nursing education and staff development are constantly evolving. This one-day conference will provide continuing education that addresses the impact of changes in undergraduate and graduate level nursing on hospital nursing education and staff development, innovative teaching strategies, technology in nursing education, and engaging staff in professional development. The conference is directed toward all nurses who participate in the orientation and continuing education of nursing staff. General Information The conference will be held on the first floor of the Ruth M. and Tristram C. Colket, Jr. Translational Research Building. The registration fee is $100 ($75 for CHOP employees) and includes the day and evening conference as well as buffet breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and parking. If you wish to attend just the evening session, the fee is $25 (free for CHOP employees). As part of our Going Green initiative, syllabus material will not be distributed at the conference, but will be available online up to one week prior and two weeks following the conference. Registration Preregistration is required. The deadline for registration is Monday, June 1, 2015. Those wishing to attend may register by mail, fax or online at The Children s Hospital of Philadelphia CME website, www.chop.edu/cme. Instructions for mailing or faxing registrations are on the registration form included in this brochure. If you have not received a confirmation letter within 15 days of sending your registration, please contact the Continuing Medical Education Department at The Children s Hospital of Philadelphia at 215-590-5263. Course Objectives Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to: Describe the impact of curriculum changes in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs on the role of nurse educators Explore the application of creative teaching strategies Discuss the use of technology in nursing education Differentiate between evidence based practice, research and quality improvement Discuss engagement of staff in professional development Nursing Accreditation The Children s Hospital of Philadelphia is approved as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. This activity has been submitted to the PA State Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. Cancellation and Refund Policy The Children s Hospital of Philadelphia reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to any unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, the Hospital will refund registration fees, less a $40 service fee, but is not responsible for any related costs, charges or expenses to participants, including cancellation charges assessed by airlines or travel agencies. In order to process refunds, cancellations must be received in writing by Monday, June 1, 2015. No refunds will be issued thereafter.
