DEFENSE INVESTIGATOR TRAINING ACADEMY The Defense Investigators Association (DIA) is proud to present the next module of accredited training specifically designed for professional criminal defense investigators DITA I! The Defense Investigator Training Academy (DITA) program consists of four modules targeting specific areas of criminal defense investigations. Each module is comprised of thirty hours of classroom and laboratory instruction followed by a final exam. Students must complete all four modules of training and pass rigorous written examinations in each module in order to complete the full course. Upon completion of all four modules, the student will receive accreditation as a Certified Criminal Defense Investigator (CCDI). The program is sponsored and accredited by the California Defense Investigators Association. The instructor of record is Ron Weber, JD., Chief Investigator, Tulare County Office of the Public Defender. DITA I INTRODUCTION TO DEFENSE INVESTIGATIONS -Evolution of Criminal Defense -The Role of the Investigator -Case Organization -Note Taking -Interviewing -Report Writing -Testifying -Court Room Techniques Classes will be taught by subject matter experts criminal defense attorneys and investigators. A faculty list is being finalized and will be posted on the DIA website: www.cdia.org/dita Students are required to physically attend every class and may not audit any portion of the program. Students may be required to complete pre-class reading, homework assignments, and other work deemed appropriate by faculty. Successful completion of the final examination is required. Registration Information Pre-registration is required. Enrollment is not complete until full payment is received. The academy fee includes all classroom material and instruction, lunch for 4 days, snacks and beverages and one evening reception. The fee does not include lodging or travel expenses. The program is limited to 50 students. Because of the interviewing and testifying simulations, no more than 50 students will be allowed to enroll. Enrollment will be handled on a first paid, first served basis. Students will be contacted by email with additional instructions and class schedule information.
