COMMANDANT S CORNER Happy New Year to all Marines, and Detachment Members! To most of us, 2013 sounds like a science fiction date, yet here we are living the future! The Marine Corps continues to grow and evolve, changing with the times, and continually creating new tactics and equipment. The "New Corps" doesn't look like our "Old Corps" but Marines themselves continue to be made of the "same stuff" as the legends of old. That is why we love to gather together, Marines can be themselves around other Marines (and other service members too, who at least understand us better than civilians do!). Thank you to all who ventured to the January meeting, read through this newsletter to find out about all the topics we covered. Thank you, too, for your continued efforts in our Detachment Programs, especially with recruiting new members, whom we keep adding to our ranks. Grow the League! Keep up the good work - your efforts are recognized by both the Department of NJ and by National. One sad bit of news, we will be losing our long time friend and Chaplain, Bob Richter, who is moving to Clinton, MO to be near his family. We will miss you deeply Bob, yet we understand and fully support you. Please keep in touch; we wish you calm seas and the wind at your back! Please join me in congratulating our new Chaplain, Bill Bergerhuff, who has some big shoes to fill but I comfortably place all my trust and confidence in him! Bill, you are already a good Marine and a very active member of this Detachment, welcome aboard, my friend, thanks for 'stepping up" into this new role. Until next time, I am Always Faithful, J. Drew Pointkouski, Commandant Burlington County Detachment #695 January Birthdays A. Black, L. Cubias, C. Fuson Jr., R. Hughes, M. Iwanicki, A. Opperman, T. Parrott, P. Quinones,Sr. D. Ruch, W. This idea is to promote new members for both the Detachment and Auxiliary. The members agreed that it is a good idea and Jan Reed said she would take care of the details. The 2013 Proposed MCL Calendar will be included in this newsletter. Contact Bill Wilson if you have any questions. There being no further business the meeting was closed by President Betty Sabol.
