The Conference is scheduled on October 6-7 at the Double Tree, by Hilton. Information about specific topics are included in this issue of The Chronicle and will be sent through future emails.our newly elected President, Rayette Chaisson, is working hard planning our next conference in Lafayette. She has some terrific key notes and presenters lined up. Make plans now and remember that all disciplines are invited to attend our LEDA conference. I want to encourage all educational diagnosticians to become members of LEDA so we may continue to have a collective voice. Executive Council Meetings LEDA s Executive Council meet on 01-09-2016 at Landry s Cajun Seafood and Steakhouse in New Iberia. As always, the restaurant welcomed LEDA openly and was very accommodating. LEDA s Executive Council had a second spring meeting on 04-08-2016 at the 2016 conference site. In addition to the LEDA conference, many new business items were discussed. Please check out the rest of this newsletter for important information!! The Chronicle Spring 2016 NCED corner The National Certification of Educational Diagnosticians Board of Directors is seeking qualified applicants for three (3) open Director vacancies to be appointed for July 1, 2016-June 30, 2019. The term of service for each Director is three years. All current, active NCED holders are eligible. The NCED Board seeks applicants who reside in all regions of the United States and who represent the diversity spectrum of abilities and skills of practicing educational diagnostic personnel. Applicants must hold the NCED credential in good standing in order to be eligible to serve on the NCED Board of Directors. Those interested in making application for a Director position must email the following items to Elizabeth Dragone, PhD, NCED Board Chair at nced.chair@gmail.com NOMINATION FOR LEDA s EDUCATIONAL DIAGNOSTICIAN OF THE YEAR Help LEDA recognize an Ed. Diagnostician for accomplishments in the field. Nominate a colleague who is a member of LE- DA for Ed. Diagnostician of the year. See attached form for nomination rules and guidelines!! The TABLE RAFFLE has been such a huge success!! We plan to continue with this awesome fundraiser! We will also have door prize drawings at the 2016 LEDA conference. LEDA SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS LEDA offers scholarships for academic work and conference attendance (except for LEDA) to all members. Both types of scholarships are offered as reimbursements at a maximum of $150. A limited number of scholarships will be awarded at the fall conference. Keep your receipts!! Our theme is Roux de LEDA A Melting Pot of Educational Diagnosticians. We have such a variety of presentations and topics with great keynote and breakout speakers. Louisiana Educational Diagnosticians Association LEDA SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES LEDA offers scholarships for academic work and for conference attendance (except the LEDA conference) to members of LEDA. Both types of scholarships are offered as reimbursements at a maximum of $ 150.00 A limited number of scholarships will be awarded at a drawing at LEDA s Fall conference. The number of scholarships offered each year is based upon a percentage of the membership dues. The more LEDA members/the more scholarship money available. The Scholarship Chairperson will sign and return the applications of the scholarship winners following conference. Academic Scholarship: Upon satisfactory completion (grade C or higher) of the proposed course the applicant must submit to the Scholarship Chairperson a copy of the university/college grade and the scholarship application form signed by the Scholarship Chairperson. The Scholarship Chairperson will then authorize the Treasurer to write the reimbursement check of up to $150.00. Conference Scholarship: Upon returning from the conference the applicant must complete the actual expenses column on the application form that has been signed by the Scholarship Chairperson, attach receipts and submit all of the information to the Scholarship Chairperson. The Scholarship Chairperson will then authorize the Treasurer to write the reimbursement check for an amount not to exceed $150.00.
