The unit cares for patients having 2 or more organ failure thus requiring advance respiratory support. The ratio of the nurse to a patient is 1:1in order to provide an optimum level of care. Patients who are bleeding with high risk for DIC Patients with Guillain Barre at the acute phase which put them at high risk for advance respiratory support Necrotizing Fascitis patients Patiemts with multiple organ failure that can still be managed in the ICU ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Admits patients from the ward, operating room or from another hospital requiring invasive ventilation and close monitoring. Responsible for the total care of the patient which includes administration of medicines, carrying out doctor s orders promptly and effectively, assisting doctors in procedures and treatments. Assess, plans, implements, evaluates the goals of care and documents all the care rendered. Reports to the ICU Registrar for any significant changes in the health status of the patient. Liaise with the other team members in planning the care of the day. Able to perform basic cardio-pulmonary resuscitation Uses the material resources to meet the patient s needs.
