The International Journal of Africana Studies, headquartered at Alabama State University, Montgomery, Alabama, is published in May and November of each year. Domestic institutional subscriptions are $35 per issue. Domestic individual subscriptions are $20 per issue. International subscriptions are $45 per issue for institutions and $30 for individuals. Institutional membership, a status reserved for academic institutions globally and on any level, is $300 per year and includes a subscription to the Journal. Affiliate memberships for non-academic institutions (churches, professional associations) are $200 per year. Professional memberships for faculty and staff at academic institutions are $100 per year. Memberships for senior citizens who are not employed fulltime at academic institutions are $50 per year. Student memberships are $35 per year. Life membership for an individual is $1,500, which can be paid in three yearly installments of $500. The International Journal of Africana Studies welcomes essays presenting original scholarship that systematically examines aspects of the past and present experiences, characteristics, achievements, issues, and concerns of people of African descent worldwide. Each submission must be saved as a Microsoft Word file and sent as an attachment to IJAS@ncbsonline.org. Potential articles should be double spaced and not exceed 30 pages including footnotes, tables, and references. Each author s name, academic or professional affiliation, rank or title, institution or organization, email address, and telephone number should appear on a title or cover page. No identifying information of an author should appear anywhere else on a manuscript. The Turabian approach to citing sources, as presented in the 16th edition of the Chicago Manual of Style (2010), is preferred. However, an author may use the existing scheme of the Modern Language Association or the American Psychological Association. All footnotes must be textual rather than composed using the automatic-footnoting feature of Microsoft. Use Times New Roman, Calibri, or Courier font and apply one-inch margins to the entire document. Pictures, maps, and other illustrations should not be embedded in the main text. Work by a student, published previously, or that is being considered for publication in another journal, book, or online will not be accepted.
