In this Fall 2017 Newsletter, we will be providing information on how to sign up for the Homecoming festivities including attending the Hayes Lecture and Blue Key Breakfast! We will also provide you with an update on all of the current members of your ESU chapter! There will be a member highlight section and some pictures of our activities so far this semester! Bailey Lampton, President My name is Bailey Lampton and I am a senior biology major with a minor business management. I would like to go to grad school studying cellular and microbial biology. I am currently the Treasurer of my sorority Alpha Sigma Alpha, Treasurer of Marine Biology Club, and Vice President of GAMMA. I am also involved in Biology Club, Tri Beta, and Caduceus Society. I also volunteer at the David Traylor Zoo of Emporia through their docent program and do research on the neuronal effects of melatonin on C. elegans. I am honored to be a part of Blue Key Honor Society to help me continue to grow as a leader on campus. I am grateful to be a part of an organization that exemplifies serving, scholarship, and leadership. Brooke Bailey, Vice President Hello! My name is Brooke Bailey and I am a senior Political Science and Communication major with a minor in Spanish. I love getting involved on this campus because there are opportunities for all interests. I work for Community Hornets and plan the community service events for ESU. Besides being the vice-president of Blue Key, I am the chair of the Tobacco Free Task Force, Vice-President of Lambda Pi Eta, and work at the Emporia Public Library. Getting involved has truly helped my leadership development. I may not know where I will end up, but I do know that my experiences at ESU have paved the way for whatever comes next. 2

Farhan Sadique, Alumni Relations Hello, my name is Farhan Sadique and I am a double major in Marketing and Management with a minor in Information Systems. This is my last year at ESU and I am excited to see what is in store for me! I am from a city called Chennai, down in the southern part of India. I decided to come to ESU in January 2014 to pursue a degree in Business along with taking part in collegiate athletics. I played tennis for ESU for four seasons and finished out my eligibility in the spring of 2017. I currently work as an Involvement Consultant in the Center for Student Involvement. I work on getting students integrated into the many RSOs that we have on campus in addition to helping with programs such as Community Hornets and GIVE. I am also the President of Beta Gamma Sigma which is the business honors society. I am currently the Alumni Relations Representative for Blue Key Honor Society. I have learned a lot from my time at ESU and look forward to continuing this growing experience! Ashley Borders, New Member Co-Chair My name is Ashley Borders and I am a senior Communication major. After I graduate, I plan to attend graduate school, get my masters degree and eventually find a job in student affairs! I am currently president of Lambda Pi Eta, the program coordinator for the Peer Mentor Program here on campus, a member of ETEAM and also Chi Omega sorority. I am currently working as an Involvement Consultant in the Center for Student Involvement and as a Page at the Emporia Public Library. I enjoy being so involved because I love getting to know different types of people! 3 Cherie Crisp, New Member Co-Chair My name is Cherie Crisp and I am a junior in the Crime and Delinquency Program. My goal after I graduate from Emporia State is to work in the probation/parole field or the juvenile justice field. I am currently the President of Alpha Kappa Delta Sociology Honor Society, a member of the Sigma Alpha Lambda Honor Society, and a member of the Sociology Club. I have also been the Chair of the local Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society for 3 years, and an Event Leadership Team member for 5 years. I am excited to be a part of the Blue Key Honor Society and live out the motto Serving I Live and give back to our community, which has given so much to others.

Logan Lindsly, Historian My name is Logan Lindsly and I am a Senior Marketing major with a minor in Graphic Design. Eventually, I would like to pursue a career in advertising or branding for a multi-national corporation. I am currently serving my second term as the Vice President of Sigma Pi Fraternity and I also sit on the executive board of the Interfraternity Counsel serving as the Vice President of Finance & Communication. I am also currently working for The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life as the Event and Marketing Student Assistant. I thoroughly enjoy this position because it allows me to get experience in the marketing field, as well as I get to work with the Greek community in which I am heavily involved in. Grayce McAllister, Resource Chair My name is Grayce McAllister, I am a junior Business Administration concentration in International Business major and Spanish minor. After graduation I would like to work as a consultant Foreign Exchange Trader, Foreign Service Officer, Trade Specialist, or Import/Export Coordinator. Currently I am Vice President of Phi Beta Lambda (which is the college equivalent to FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America)), Business Student Ambassador (BSA), Associated Student Government Senator for the School of Business, Emporia State University Ambassador, and KOSA (Korean Student Association). I currently work as a student assistant in the Business Advising Center. Each of these opportunities has given me the opportunity to take my classroom work and apply it to current life situations. It will also prepare me for my job after graduation. 4

Isaiah Wattree, Hayes Co-Chair My name is Isaiah Wattree, I am from Wichita Kansas and I am a senior Business Administration major with a concentration in Human Resources and a minor in Information Systems. Along with being a chair member in the Blue Key Honor Society, I am also a second-year Resident Assistant in the upperclassmen dorms. In the future, I hope to go to graduate school and study Industrial/Organizational Psychology and become a Human Resources Manager for a large company somewhere in the Texas area. Megan Hilbish, Hayes Co-Chair My name is Megan Hilbish and I am double majoring in Political Science and Crime and Delinquency Studies with a Legal Studies minor and Pre-Law. I'm involved in Public Affairs Club (Treasurer), Pre-Law Club (Past President), AKD sociology honor society (President), Sociology Club (Vice-President), and Sigma Alpha Lambda (President). I'm excited to be a part of Blue Key and help plan our events and speakers. A random fact about me is that I shoot guns competitively in target competitions and won the Kansas Junior Olympics in rifle six times.to me, "Serving I Live" means to put others before yourself every day and giving without expecting anything in return, especially to your community. Giving back to those that helped me get to where I am today is very important to me and is why I volunteer year round with the local Lyon County 4-H Shooting Sports program as a certified rifle and archery instructor. Kevin Sandoval, Leadership Co- Chair 5 My name is Kevin Sandoval, and I am a junior biochemistry major. Since I have a concentration in premedicine, I would ultimately like to go to medical school, and eventually become a plastic surgeon. At ESU, I am involved in multiple organizations such as: Caduceus Society, Biology club, Tri-Beta, and spurs. I also am a physical and biological science tutor for TRIO services, and hold executive positions such as being the Public relations chair for Chemistry Club, the leadership chair for both Blue Key and Circle K international. I am also a part of Greek life and am a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. I love to stay busy, and have a passion in all organizations that I am involved in.

Steven Fox, Leadership Co-Chair My name is Steven Fox and I am a Senior Computer Information Systems and Communication major! My goals are to pursue a career in software and system development, eventually working in information security. I am currently serving as the President of Hornets for Habitat, an organization that links students on Emporia's campus to local and regional affiliates of Habitat for Humanity. I am also an alumni of Alpha Kappa Lambda, in which I had the opportunity to serve as the Vice President, Parliamentarian, Chaplain, and Community Service chair. With the experience I've gain through my fraternity and other campus organizations, like ESU Ambassadors, I've been able to grow in ways I never imagined as a freshman on campus. Through membership in Blue Key Honor Society, I look forward for new opportunities it grow and improve Emporia State University! Abigail Githens, Banquet Chair My name is Abby Githens and I am a senior Rehabilitation Services major from Manhattan, Kansas. When I graduate I would like to start a career working with children with disabilities. I am currently the Banquet chair for Blue Key and I also a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, and SPURS. I am an Ambassador for Emporia State along with holding a student worker position at the Student Advising Center on campus. I love all of the organizations I am a part of and they all push me to grow as a student and a person. Elise Dayton, Treasurer My name is Elise Dayton and I am a junior nursing major. I am currently the standards chair for my sorority Alpha Sigma Alpha. I am also involved with SPURS and Phi Eta Sigma. 6

Lexi Holstin, Public Relations My name is Lexi Holstin and I am a Junior Marketing major, I intend to graduate a semester early. While I do not know exactly which direction in my career path I wish to pursue, but I am excited to see where life takes me in this fast approaching future. I am currently serving as Treasurer of Chi Omega Sorority after I concluded my term as Community Service Chair. I have been a member on the Student Homecoming Committee for the third consecutive year and serving as the President, this organization plans and facilitates the University Homecoming. I have also been a member of SPURS Honors Society for the past three years, a service based organization to the community. I have worked closely with our Mainstreet office in Emporia with several internships in marketing within the past year. I love being involved on campus and in the community because it allows for me to make new connections and meet new people through such diverse and influential events Camille Abdel-Jawad My name is Camille Abdel-Jawad and I am a junior English Major with minors in Spanish and Creative Writing. I graduate in December of 2018 and after I graduate, I want to work in editorial publishing for children's literature. I am also involved in the Honors College, ESU Ambassadors, Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and several honors societies. I currently serve in several leadership positions within my other organizations. I love being a part of Blue Key because it gives me the opportunity to serve my community and show my hornet pride. 7

Megan Budnik My name is Megan Budnik and I am a Senior Business Administration major with concentrations in Human Resources and Entrepreneurship. My future plans after graduating from Emporia State are to attend Graduate school and earn a masters degree in organizational development. Once I have finished with this degree I want to work in student affairs and programming. I have held several leadership positions on the Emporia campus. Some of my many positions include: President of Union Activities Council, Treasurer of Sigma Sigma Sigma and Treasurer of the Panhellenic Council. I have also held smaller roles in other organizations on my campus. I am currently involved in Union Activities Council, Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, Blue Key Honor Society, and Order of Omega. I also have two jobs that I attend. One of the jobs is on campus and is for my President position on Union Activities Council. The other job I have is as a collections assistant at the Jay Vander Velde Law Office. I really enjoy working with other students and want to help make everyone s college experience wonderful. I hope I can continue to do that throughout my life journey. Barrett Koch My name is Barret Koch and I am a senior Psychology major from Salina, KS. I plan to go on to graduate school and study to become a School Psychologist. Some other organizations I am involved with besides Blue Key Honor Society are ESU Ambassadors, Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity, Inter-Fraternity Council Executive Board, Psychology Club, and Psi Chi. Along with those involvements I am also a student secretary in the Music Department on campus. I enjoy my job and involvements because they allow me to serve and get to know many people. Luke Palmer My name is Luke Palmer and I am a senior with a double major in accounting and management of information systems. My goal after Emporia State is attend law school and study tax law. I have held several leadership positions on campus most notably I am president of Sigma Tau Gamma and an ASG senator for the business school. I currently work as the Advertisement Manager for the Bulletin. I am honored to be a part of Blue Key and looked forward to this upcoming year. Stingers up! 8

June Coleman, Blue Key Advisor My name is June Coleman and I serve as the Blue Key Advisor and Director of Career Services at Emporia State University. I have been involved in a number of committees at ESU. My community involvement includes the SOS internal affairs committee, raising 4 kids and hobbies include Husker football, running and music. I understand this motto Serving I Live to mean that we re all connected in some way and my purpose is to serve others both professionally and personally. Blue Key serves Emporia State by providing key leadership opportunities for students. Within Career Services, our staff serves students in helping them decide on a rewarding career and finding lifelong career satisfaction. As an institution, Emporia State serves people by providing high quality public education in Kansas. In my personal life, it means I volunteer and participate in community wide efforts that better the community of Emporia and its members. 9

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: LEXI HOLSTIN She is constantly on her feet running place to place with meetings and scholarly events. Last semester she had an internship through Mainstreet at KVOE the local radio station, and they offered her a part time job concluding the internship. She currently works for KVOE, and interns again through Mainstreet with Patton Putnam and Dean Law Firm as a Legal Assistant. She will graduate a semester early due to all the hard work she put in during high school, and is excited to start her professional career. She held several positions in Chi Omega organizing events as the Community Service Chair and is currently the Treasurer. Along with all of that she is involved with E-team, Spurs, Blue Key, and is the current Student Homecoming Committee President on campus. CHERIE CRISP Congratulations to Cherie Crisp, who is a Crime and Delinquency Studies major and is President of Alpha Kappa Delta Sociology Honor Society! Cherie, who works as a health services assistant in the Student Wellness Center earned the President's Volunteer Service Award, an initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and is administered by Points of Light. 6
