APPROVED JUDGE A, B & REGIONAL APPLICATION FORM & RENEWAL SETTING THE STANDARDS FOR CULINARY COMPETITIONS The World Association of Chefs Societies, or WORLDCHEFS in short, is a global network of chefs associations first founded in October 1928 at the Sorbonne in Paris. Today, this global body has over 100 official member chefs associations that represent 10 million professionals worldwide.

THE WORLD ASSOCIATION OF CHEFS SOCIETIES The World Association of Chefs Societies, or WORLDCHEFS in short, is a global network of chefs associations first founded in October 1928 at the Sorbonne in Paris. The venerable Auguste Escofier was named the first Honorary President. Today, this global body has over 100 official member chefs associations that represent10 million professionals worldwide. OUR MISSION The World Association of Chefs Societies is a non-political professional organization, dedicated to maintaining and improving the culinary standards of global cuisines. We accomplish these goals through education, training and professional development of our international membership. As an authority and opinion leader on food, WORLDCHEFS represents a global voice on all issues related to the culinary profession. WORLDCHEFS APPROVED JUDGES WORLDCHEFS maintains a list of carefully evaluated judges. WORLDCHEFS Approved Judges will make sure that a fair and consistent level is achieved around the world with specific and measured judging criteria along with standardised competition rules and guidelines. HOW TO BECOME A JUDGE To become a Worldchefs approved judge you must complete and return this application together with requested evidence for evaluation by the Culinary Competition Committee (CCC). Only complete applications will be considered. MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR BECOMING A WORLDCHEFS APPROVED JUDGE: You must be a member of a chef association who is a national member of WORLDCHEFS and in good financial standing. Be a professionally qualified Chef and active as a Chef in a commercial kitchen; or a Foodservice Manager; or a Chef Educator. You must have completed a WORLDCHEFS judging seminar. Be able to understand and communicate in English at a reasonable level. WORLDCHEFS JUDGING SEMINARS WORLDCHEFS Culinary Competition Committee has developed and implemented a Judging Seminar Program that will be proposed in all continents on a regular basis. The Judging Seminar are mandatory for all future WORLDCHEFS Approved Judges. WORLDCHEFS member countries have the possibility to licence the Judging Seminars for the benefit of all chefs in their region. Judging Seminars are open to everyone who wishes to increase their understanding and knowledge of judging and competitions. I.e. aspiring judges, competitors, trainers, event organisers, etc. Attending a Judging seminar does not automatically qualify one as an Approved Judge. Applicants must fulfill all criteria laid out in this document and provide evidence where requested. RENEWAL OF JUDGING LICENSE In order to maintain their judging licence, Judges are required to attend a judging seminar every five (5) years. They will receive a reminder from WORLDCHEFS office one year ahead of expiration and must complete the renewal process. The application form will be checked at the same time again. SUSPENSION OF A JUDGING LICENCE: There are three (3) reasons for suspension: Violation of the judge s code of conduct. Wrong information on the application forms provided to the CCC. If a judge is no longer a member of a WORLDCHEFS member country association. If a judge moves to another country, the judge license will be valid in the new country as soon as he/she becomes a member of the national WORLDCHEFS chefs association in the new country. It is the responsibility of the judge to inform the Worldchefs office about his/her change of country. It has to be proved by sending a copy of his/her new membership card and a receipt of the membership fee to Worldchefs office. PROCESS All requests for a judge s recall must be sent to the CCC chair by a competition organizer, chairman of a jury group, a WORLDCHEFS observer or a President of a National Chefs Association that is a WORLDCHEFS member in good standing. (Not Affiliate or Associate members). The CCC will send a letter to the judge in question through the WORLDCHEFS office and give him/her a chance to explain himself/herself. The CCC will make the decision and the WORLDCHEFS office will inform both the judge and his National Chefs Association of the decision. The decision cannot be appealed. A country has the right to request that a judge is removed. The request can only be done by the president from a WORLDCHEFS member country in good standing, not an Affiliate nor an Associate member. The president must inform the CCC which will confirm to the country in question and will inform the WORLDCHEFS office. The WORLDCHEFS office will remove the judge from the list. It is the country who has the responsibility to inform the judge in question of the dismissal.
