Medical Humanities Aims Encourage bold and intellectually rigorous research applications that address important questions at the interface of medicine, healthrelated sciences, and the wider humanities. Fund research from a wide array of disciplines, using a range of different methods and sources.
Society & Ethics Aims Support research that explores the social and ethical aspects of biomedical research and health, with the ultimate aim of achieving extraordinary improvements in human and animal health. Address tractable, real-world problems and, where possible, link to the Wellcome Trust s five strategic challenges.
Society & Ethics Strands Seeks to consider social, economic and cultural factors that influence health, biomedical or health research, the development and implementation of healthcare practices, and health interventions. Sets out to inform answers to questions about resolving ethical dilemmas arising from biomedical or health research, the development and implementation of healthcare practices, and health interventions.

Anything up to 250,000 per year. Up to 7 years. Direct costs of research: salaries, equipment, travel, consumables, fieldwork. We do not fund on an FEC basis

Awards for Health Care Professionals In MH, the Short Term Research Leave Award for Clinicians & Scientists enables clinicians, scientists, or nurses to undertake research at a centre or department with academic expertise in medical humanities. In S&E, the Research Fellowship for Health Professionals is like the postdoctoral fellowship but allows the grantholder to continue with their practice whilst undertaking a 2-3 year whole time equivalent project or to register for a PhD.
