Introducing EatFresh Using a SNAP-Ed Innovative Projects grant, San Francisco has created EatFresh.org, a website targeting CalFresh eligible/enrolled populations. Objectives: 1.Provide nutrition information to users of MyBenefitsCalWIN and C4Yourself. 2.Provide a web & mobile resource for lowincome Californians 3.Provide a nutrition education tool to be used in SNAP-Ed programs throughout California 3
What is EatFresh? Quick, culturally competent recipes that are affordable within a CalFresh budget and for those with limited kitchens Food storage, selection and access information Nutrition information and chronic disease prevention messaging pages; also incorporated throughout other pages User forums, moderated Ask the Dietician feature, and social media integration Text, email, print, save, and share recipes Mobile-friendly Available in English, Spanish, and Chinese 4
Primary Messages of EatFresh 1. Eating healthy can be cheap and easy. 2. Choose fresh, whole foods and minimally processed non-perishables. 3. Chronic diseases are preventable through healthy diet and lifestyle (sleep, stress management, physical activity). 5
