Guidelines For Conducting Articleship and Industrial Training Campus Placement Objective: To provide a platform for students and firms/industries to approach each other mitigating the difficulty faced by them on account of inadequate information, resources and lack of reference/connection. The above placements will result in brand building, connect the students and firms/industry and above all improve the quality of Articleship. Campus placements for selection of Articles are to be organised on Regional Basis so that both students and CA Firms/Industries taking advantage of this platform. Here on one hand, the CA students are able to get good exposure in reputed organizations offering them niche profile and attractive stipends while on the other hand, CA Firms/Industries are also able to get good talent. Benefits of Articleship / Industrial Training: Articleship is an integral part of CA course and every CA student has to undergo 3 years of Articleship while in the 3rd year they have the option of Industrial Training. The practical training whether only in CA firms or both in CA firms and Industries provide a practical exposure to the students and the students who are wishing to gain the specific industry experience can opt for Industrial Training. Who are Eligible to commence Articleship/ Join Industrial Trainee: A. For Joining Articleship: (i) Students after passing Common Proficiency Test: A student pursuing the CA Course through CPT Route is eligible to commence the articleship after passing Group 1 of Intermediate (IPC) Course and undergoing 15 days Orientation Course and ITT. (ii) Students through Direct Entry Route:
A student pursuing the CA Course through Direct Entry can commence Artcileship immediately after registering for Intermediate (IPC) after undergoing 15 days Orientation Course and ITT. Existing Articles: Students already undergoing Articleship Training are ineligible to enroll in the Campus Placement. B. For Joining Industrial Training: A CA article student after completion of 2 years of articleship, has an option to go for Industrial Training with consent of the Principal to join any corporate which fulfill the criteria laid down by ICAI. The period of training may range between 9 to 12 months. It is not mandatory. How to conduct Campus Placements for Artcileship and Industrial Training by the Regional Offices/Branches (Programme organizing units (POUs))? An official should be identified by the POUs who will take ownership in conducting the event. He / She will be one point contact easily accessible by Corporates/Firms and candidates and also well versed with the ICAI rules and regulations. Such Campus placements may be conducted within the premises of POUs. Procedure to be followed: A. PRE-EVENT Announcement of the event: Calendar for conducting such events should be planned in advance and conducted twice in a year at the time of declaration of Intermediate (IPC) Results. The calendar should be uploaded at the website and at the same time mailers should be sent to corporate and candidates to register for the process. Registrations of Industries /CA firms and CA Students (preferably online):
To register Industries / CA Firms and CA Students after due consideration of the eligibility norms of ICAI. Before registering a candidate need to obtain NOC from his / her current Employer under whom he / she is doing articleship. Registering Fees: 1. CA Firms Rs. 1,500/- (Spot registration: Rs. 2,000/-) 2. Candidate For Industrial Training : Rs. 200/- (Spot registration: Rs. 300/-) For Articleship: Rs. 100/- (Spot registration: Rs. 200/-) Last Date for registration: 2 days prior to the event. Industries / CA Firms would have access to Candidates data 2 days prior to the event. B. EVENT DATE Reporting Time Candidates: 9:00am Dress code: FORMAL Corporate delegates reporting time may be 9.30 am onwards / as per the allotted slot based on first-cum-first served. Pre-Placement Talk A presentation about the company may be made during the pre-placement talk. Basically the presentation includes the information like selection procedure, company s milestones, organizational achievements, candidate scope of improvement within the organization if selected, stipend offer. This would facilitate the students to select the Company for Industrial Training. Group discussion This round though is not compulsory but most of the companies generally have this round as a filtering round. Technical Interview
This round evaluates the technical ability of the student. In most of the cases this will be an individual round but it may be grouped with the formal interview. Formal interview In Final round the student s stability and confidence level towards the particular work is evaluated. The interview focuses on overall personality of the candidate and a student with more practical application knowledge has better chances of their selection. Offer Letter / Acceptance letter Once the student is selected, he will be given an offer letter. Company s executive may provide guidelines about joining procedure and other prerequisites, if needed. Student needs to sign the ICAI Declaration letter, which served as an acceptance of INDUSTRIAL TRAINEE placement along with NOC from the current Principal. Feedback from Industries/ CA Firms / Candidates At the end of the day, the officer-in-charge will collect the feedback from Companies & candidates. C. POST EVENT 1. Thank you letter to the participated Corporates and CA Firms 2. Hosting on our website the details of candidates placed. 3. Maintenance of records for future reference.
CHECKLIST TO CONDUCT CAMPUS PLACEMENT 1. Signature at the entrance 2. Reception counter a. Common Attendance for the participating students b. Spot registrations for candidates c. Spot registrations for Industries /CA Firms 3. Each corporate is to be allotted a Cabin to conduct the interview process. Name of the corporate should be displayed on the cabin door. 4. A Student Association member as a ICAI representative to support in the process. 5. Students attendance Corporate-wise is to be taken. 6. Tea / Coffee cookies to be served to corporate representative. 7. Water, mints, stationary need to be place on the table along with candidates list. 8. Working Lunch to be provided to the officials of corporate who conduct the interview process whole day. 9. Students need to carry physical copy of the BIO-DATA. 10. At the end of the day to collect feedback from Student & Corporate. 11. Candidates without NOC will not be allowed to participate. 12. Candidates who have accepted the offer for one company will not be allowed to participate for any other/more corporate.
