You are cordially invited to the PolyU Orientation Programme 2018 that brings you three events President s Welcome, Faculty s Orientation Session, and Orientation Info Day. These three events will help you get to know more about the campus, your programme of study, and are great chances for you to meet our faculty/school members and senior students. President s Welcome & Orientation Info Day Date: 31 August 2018 The President s Welcome will be held on Friday, 31 August 2018 from 11:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m. at Jockey Club Auditorium, PolyU. Prof. Timothy W. Tong and members of the senior management will be there to welcome you to the PolyU community. Please register using the QR code or the link below. Seats are limited and reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Department of Applied Physics s Orientation Session 2018 Arrangements during Bad Weather Annex 2 Tropical Cyclone Warnings & Rainstorm Warnings (Important: Announcements made by the Education Bureau are NOT applicable to the University.) Signal No. 1 or 3 / Rainstorm Amber or Red Warning Unless otherwise notified, all activities will be held as scheduled. Before 7:00 a.m. Signal No. 8 or above / Rainstorm Black Warning (1) Arrangements for the Orientation Session NOT YET started Signal No.8 or above / Rainstorm Black Warning Signal is lowered / warning cancelled Arrangements * The orientation will be held as scheduled. At or after 7:00 a.m. Signal hoisted / warning issued The orientation will be cancelled. Freshmen should join the re-scheduled one on 30 August 2018 from 10:00. Please refer to the attached contingency plan (bebind) for the details. Signal No. 8 or above Rainstorm Black Warning (2) Arrangements for activities ALREADY started Arrangements will be made to release students to go home as soon as possible. As advised by the Government, people should take shelter in a safe place when the rainstorm black warning is in force. Activities will continue unless otherwise announced. If the warning is still in force when the activities end, students are advised to stay on campus for their own safety until the warning has been cancelled or the traffic conditions have improved. Students should contact the Campus Security Control Centre at telephone no. 2766 7666 for assistance when necessary. Remarks: Freshmen should arrive 15 minutes before the orientation begins, i.e. 9:45 am (20 August 2018)
