1. INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES 1.1 Background Karnataka is a land unparalleled in diversity; be it Heritage, Culture, Nature, Beaches or Wildlife. Karnataka is primarily known for its Heritage destinations and its Wildlife/ National Parks. Apart from that, it is also famous for its magical hill stations, spectacular waterfalls, pilgrimage centers and a 320km long coastline dotted with un spoilt beaches. Thus, making it an ideal place for a traveller with diverse interests. From being a state with Bangalore and Mysore as its popular destinations, today virtually the entire state is known for its tourist attractions. From a time when people thought that destinations in the state were hard to reach, difficult to cover in short time and lacked in facilities, today Karnataka s destinations are sought after. At present, Department of Tourism (DoT), Government of Karnataka (GoK) uses One State. Many Worlds as its tagline With this background and taking into consideration the changes in the global tourism scenario and the changing traveller behavior, DoT planning to re-brand the state by refreshing the tagline for Karnataka Tourism through an Open Competition. The proposed tagline: Should capture the essence of Karnataka's tourist destinations, diversity of its offerings and the experiences the state offers in both English and Kannada. Should encompass Karnataka s core values, characteristics, and truest distinctions. Establish the insights into the needs of global audiences 1.2 Submission Details Entries should be submitted only through Email to contest@karnatakatourism.org The last date for submission of entries is 01.03.2018. The entry should be in a PDF file containing in the format as specified in the last page of this document along with the declaration a. 1.3 Terms and Conditions a. Last date for submission of entries is 01.03.2018 by05:00pm (IST). The Emails received beyond this shall not be considered for the competition. b. Each participant can submit single entry only- one each in English and Kannada. If any participant/s will submit multiple entries, all entries submitted by that participant/s will be rejected. c. Only Indian Nationals above 18 years of age are eligible for this Competition. d. Individual, Group of Individuals, Organization/Agency etc are eligible. e. The prize will be given to the author of the competition entry as represented by the Individual /group/ organization/ agency in case of group. f. The entries received once shall not be returned. g. The final selected Tagline shall become the intellectual property of thedot and the Participant shall not have any right over the same. h. The responsibility to comply with the guidelines and other conditions fully lies with the participant and the DoT shall not be liable for any dispute raised by a third party. i. The tagline must be original and should not violate any provision of the India Copy Right Act, 1957. By entering the competition, the Participants declare that the tagline submitted is their original work, have not been submitted to any other competition, and does not infringe on any third party s existing copyrights. Any complaints that may arise due to similarities, likeness or comparison would be the accountability of the participant as he/she would be responsible to prove its authenticity. j. The DoT shall also have exclusive rights to the winning tagline;it shall be used with the Karnataka Tourism logo/ branding for promotional and display purposes, websites, and in other media and corporate materials. k. DoT reserves the right to further refine or make improvements and alterations on the winning entry. l. DoT reserves the right not to select a winner if, in its sole discretion, no suitable entries are received. m. DoT reserves the right to disqualify any Entry at its sole discretion. No correspondence shall be entered into. n. The decision of DoT regarding final selection of tagline shall be a binding on the participants. 3
2. GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING ENTRIES 2.1 Selection Process/ Other Conditions a. The best winner shall be chosen on the basis of consideration mentioned in the point no. 1.2 and point no. 1.3 for this competition. b. The decision of selection committee constituted by DoT for the purpose of selecting the winner shall be treated as final & binding to all the participants. The prize for winning entry is INR2,00,000/-. c. No plagiarism shall be allowed. d. Entry not complete in any respect or not meeting the terms and condition of the competition will be rejected without assigning any reason thereof. e. Participant's should not imprint or watermark the tagline. f. DoT shall have the right to use, print or reproduce the prize winning tagline or any from if it deems fit. g. The winner has to submit the required proofs prior to claim the prize money to DoT. h. Employees at DoT and their immediate family members will not be eligible to participate in this competition. i. Multiple submissions of taglines by the same participant would not be accepted j. Participant is required to ensure that his/her details furnished is accurate since DoT would be using this for further communication. This includes details such as name, photo and phone number. Entries with incomplete profiles will not be considered. DoT reserves the right to cancel or amend all or any part of this Contest and/ or Terms and Conditions/ Technical Parameters/ Evaluation Criteria. However, any changes to the Terms and Conditions/ Technical Parameters/ Evaluation Criteria, or the cancellation of the Contest, will be updated/ posted only on the website www.junglelodges.com. 2.2 Intellectual Property Rights a. All entries will remain the property of DoT and are not returnable. b. Participants need to acknowledge and agree that all copyright and other rights in the tagline including rights in the text or any other content submitted to DoT in respect of this competition shall be solely and exclusively owned by the DoT in case the tagline is selected. All participants agree to assign absolutely to DoT without charge all intellectual property rights, including the right to use, reproduce, modify, publish, license and/or otherwise deal with (whether for commercial and non-commercial purpose) the submitted tagline. 4
c. Participant/s represent and warrant that his/their entry is his/their own original work/creation and do not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. Anyone found infringing on others copyright would be disqualified from the competition. DOT does not bear any responsibility for copyright violations or infringements of intellectual property carried out by the participants. 2.3 Evaluation Criteria a. All the entries received by DoT would be assessed for awards by selection Committee constituted by Department of Tourism. b. Entries would be judged on the basis of tagline s 1. Creativity and originality 2. How well it captures the essence of Karnataka's tourist destinations, diversity of its offerings and the experiences the state offers. 3. How well they communicate Destination Karnataka as a Brand. c. The decision of the Selection Committee would be final and binding on all the contestants and no clarifications would be issued to any participants or any decision of Selection Committee. d. Any legal proceedings arising out of the competition/ its entries/ winners shall be subject to local jurisdiction of Bengaluru city. 5
