Attendance Line 408-335-2385 rjfattendance@lgusd.org Call if your student is absent from school, leaving early or arriving late. I hope you enjoyed your extended weekend without the wet and wild weather of late. It was nice to see some blue skies. Safe to say, there is no shortage of talented youth within our Los Gatos community, but every now and then, there are super stars within our midst. Such is the case with Colin Peattie, an eighth grader at Fisher Middle School who recently ran to a national title in the boys 13-14 age group at the national cross country championships. Peattie, representing the Los Gatos Athletic Association Track Club, covered the 4,000-meter course in 12:19 to win the national crown. When he sets his mind to a goal, his confidence and determination really shows, said Willie Harmatz of Peattie, who the coach calls the best distance runner in Fisher Middle School history. Congratulations, Colin! The good news is that Colin will compete for the Fisher track team this spring. Look out WVAL. In other breaking news, the Fisher Choir will be performing the national anthem at a Stanford women's basketball game on Friday, January 20. Stanford, ranked 10th in the nation, will be hosting Arizona in this PAC 12 match-up. The game begins at 7:00 pm, but come early and be seated by 6:30 to watch our amazing gifted choir sing. We began this tradition at Stanford several years ago, and we are the very first middle or high school group to perform the anthem at any Stanford sporting event. You might also consider coming to cheer on our spelling finalists in our Spelling Bee to be held this Thursday, January 19 at 3:00 pm in our Fisher library. Congratulations to our finalists: Ester Sun Maxim Tarasevich Lexi Kupor Maddie Ho Natalie Nguyen Lastly, don t forget to ask your child about our upcoming Winter Glow Dance and party slated for Friday, January 27 from 3:00 5:00 pm in our new gym. This event promises to be a blast for all participants. I plan to wear neon for sure. Sincerely, Lisa Fraser, Principal Shaunak Warty Dhruv Dalmia Aidan Blagtas Parker English Ryan Gabel Ajay Natarajan Emily Gouldrup Micah Hoang Gabriel Schwartz

Page 5 Educating the Whole Child Our children deserve a high-quality education. A high quality education goes beyond standard academics. But Los Gatos schools lack required funding when compared to similar districts. LGEF helps fill the gap with 2016-2017 programs for art, music, counseling and science that educate the whole child. LGEF Mission Los Gatos Education Foundation raises essential funds that ensure our children receive high quality programs and resources vital to their education. Please Support LGEF There is NO REASON Los Gatos should lag behind. Donate to LGEF today and your children will benefit all year long. DONATE at www.lgef.org
