Committee on the Protection of Children and Young People 3211 FOURTH STREET NE WASHINGTON DC 20017-1194 202-541-5413 FAX 202-541-5410 MEMORANDUM To: From: Subject: All Bishops and Eparchs Most Reverend Edward J. Burns Bishop Designate of Dallas 2017 Audit Process and Workshop Information Date: February 2, 2017 The 2016 Audits were completed with very few problems. I thank you and your staff for your contribution and all that you do to protect children. Once again, Audit Workshops have been scheduled for 2017. The workshops are intended for bishops and eparches (especially new bishops and eparches), diocesan audit point persons, diocesan Victim Assistance Coordinators, Safe Environment Coordinators, and anyone within the diocese/eparchy that has a substantive role in the implementation of the Charter and the audit process. This year, the 2017 Audit Workshops will be presented in a new format. They will be divided into two different presentations: comprehensive and question driven. Also, attendance will be by webinar ONLY as we have also changed the medium for broadcasting to enhance quality. In coordination with our Creative Services Department, the webinar will be filmed, similar to a television show. A web link will be provided for all attendees to watch and listen to the webinar through their computers. Audit Workshops Tuesday, April 4, 1:00 pm 5:00 pm ET - a comprehensive, article-by-article, explanation of what is required by the audit. The first presentation is directed towards those who are new in their role in completing the audit, or for those looking for a refresher. Tuesday, April 25, 1:00 pm 4:00 pm ET - a focus on answering FAQs and more complicated questions submitted by you. The second presentation is directed towards those with more experience with the audit, or for those of you with more nuanced questions or new questions that have arisen since viewing the April 4th workshop. Please submit your questions to lgarner@usccb.org. This is the first year in the three-year audit cycle of 2017 2019. Those dioceses/eparchies that received an on-site audit in 2014 are scheduled for an onsite audit in 2017. If parish audits were
included in your on-site audit in the past, they have been included in your current on-site audit, but it is asked that this be confirmed with Dcn. Bernie Nojadera of the SCYP and Mr. Thom Englert of StoneBridge. Parish audits will only be conducted in those diocese/eparchies that specifically request them. At this time, it is asked that you provide the name and contact information for your diocesan/eparchial audit point person using the attached form to Mr. Thom Englert, StoneBridge Business Partners at 888-247-9764 or via e-mail at USCCBCharterAudits@StoneBridgeBP.com as soon as possible. For those dioceses/eparchies having on-site audits in 2017, also please advise Mr. Thom Englert @ StoneBridge Business Partners of your first & second audit week choice. Again, please use the attached form. As with the previous audit process, the audit schedule will be developed on a first come basis. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Bernie Nojadera at bnojadera@usccb.org or 202-541-5413.
