No: 6 -Week 2 Term 2 Wednesday 26th April 2017 ANZAC Day Thank you to parents, students and staff for supporting the ANZAC Day ceremony. Once again the jet flew so low, it looked like it just missed the palm trees. Our school plays a major role in the procedure of the day and even though the day is about reflecting on events that are traumatic, it also provides us with an opportunity to look to the future and be proud of our school, young students and community. The speeches that were read so well by our school captains were written by our students and came from the heart. Our eager instrumental band, led by Mr Chris Allen, were marvellous and their progress is something to be proud of. Yesterday was a day when all in the community came together, supported each other and together look forward to a bright future. Year 5/6 Camp This week Year 5/6 with Mrs Gibson and Miss Gierke go on school camp to Boyne Island. I am sure they will have a wonderful time as they learn about coastal habitats and camp in their tents. I am excited because I get to go along too. I enjoy being part of school camps because it is an opportunity for me to get to know the students and build relationships. Welcome to our new teachers I wish to welcome Miss Ashley Edge and Mrs Selina Glazbrook to our staff and as a school we are very fortunate. Miss Edge will be working across most year levels with a science focus and Mrs Glazbrook will be working in the Learning Support and Extension areas. The School Captains addressed the crowd with a speech created with the input of every student in the school. A big thank you to Mr Chris Allen and the school musical ensemble for their performance of the Australian National Anthem.
