YEAR 11 EXAM ARRANGEMENTS 2018 www.gcsepod.com www.methodmaths.com Full uniform must be worn at all times when on the school premises.

ATTENDING LESSONS DURING THE EXAM PERIOD. ATTENDANCE RULES IN THE SUMMER TERM: You must attend all lessons as normal until the end of Friday 25th May. If you study a subject for which all assessment has been completed (e.g. Art), you must still attend these lessons. You should bring with you revision/private study work that you can do on your own and in silence. Some of these lessons will be led by teachers of other subjects to help you prepare for exams in those subjects. The only exceptions to this are: If you have an exam, go to your exam; if you have an afternoon exam, you can miss morning lessons in order to revise at home. Attendance after May Half-Term After May Half-Term, you MUST still attend all lessons for examination subjects until you have sat the last examination for that subject. The only exceptions to this are: If you have an exam, go to your exam; if you have an afternoon exam, you can miss morning lessons in order to revise at home. As always, non- attendance of a lesson that you should be attending is truancy and sanctions will be issued. Registers will be kept of class attendance and parents of absentees will be contacted. After half-term, if you do not have a lesson or exam first thing in the morning, you may stay at home to revise. If you have a study period (i.e.no lesson) later in the day, you may go home to revise during this time. YOU MUST SIGN IN AND OUT ON THE CLASS SHEETS BY THE DINING HALL if you come to school late because you don t have a Period 1 lesson, or if you leave school for any periods when you do not have a lesson; THIS IS NOT OPTION- AL. You should only sign out if you can get home easily; this is not social time. You are not allowed to hang out in the park or the high street, etc., during school hours. Abuse of this will mean you will not be allowed to sign out and will have to remain in school. If you do not have a lesson and are unable to go home, always make sure you have private study/revision materials with you. Make the most of your time. Rooms will always be available for private study, so you do not have to go home; for information about the rooms available please see Mr Quinn.

EXAMINATIONS DAILY CHECKS Check your personal exam timetable daily so you are sure when to come into school. There is a copy of the overall exam timetable on the school website. Check the exam notice board by the Dining Hall for any changes to arrangements. Check the Exams Information section of the school website; any emergency information will be published here. In the event of an emergency a text message will also be sent to parents. UNIFORM Full school uniform must be worn at all times when on the school premises. In the event of particularly warm weather, you will be informed if you are allowed to remove your jumper. You must however, still wear your full uniform when assembling in the Main Hall before exams. EXAM RULES You must go to the Exam rooms in SILENCE and no attempt must be made to communicate with any other pupils. Mobile phones, Smart Watches, Activity Trackers, MP3 players, ipods, etc. are forbidden. Anyone found in possession of these items during the exam will be disqualified by the exam boards. If a wristwatch is taken into the exam room it must be removed and placed in the top left hand corner of the desk so it can be seen by invigilators. Be aware of the notice to candidates (copy on the exam board by the Main Hall and on the school website). EQUIPMENT Ensure you have all essential equipment for each exam e.g. black ballpoint pens, pencils, ruler and eraser. Do not bring correcting fluid, gel pens or similar (only transparent pencil cases are permitted). If you bring a bottle of water, it must be transparent with the label removed.

TIMES OF EXAMS Morning exams - 9.00 a.m. start: assemble in the Main Hall at 8.30 a.m. If you do not have an exam go to form time as normal. Afternoon exams - 2.00 p.m. start: sign in by the Dining Hall by 1.45 p.m. and wait in the Main Hall. Allow plenty of time to reach school and sign in. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO GET TO AN EXAM You must make every effort to get to school for each exam - there are very few valid excuses for missing an exam and you will not get a second chance. If there is a genuine reason for being unable to attend, inform the school office promptly; you will be charged the cost of the exam if you do not attend without a valid reason. LATE ARRIVAL If you arrive at school after the start time of the exam you must report to Student Services and then to a member of the Exam staff (Mr. Quinn/Mrs. Snow/Mrs. Sage) who will decide if you can still take the exam. EXAM CLASHES All pupils with a timetable clash will be notified of changes to arrangements in advance. LEAVING PROCESS RETURNING BOOKS Full uniform must be worn at all times when on the school premises. Start handing back text books and other relevant equipment to departments as exams in the subject are completed (break time, lunchtime or after school ONLY). All lockers MUST be cleared by Wednesday 20th June. All books MUST be returned by Friday 22nd June. LEAVERS AFTERNOON (Friday 22nd June 1.30 2.30p.m.) Full uniform does not need to be worn on Leavers Afternoon. The Leavers' form is attached to the back of this booklet. Leavers forms will also be available from Student Services. You will need to get all of your subject teachers to sign the form. Be aware you will need to pay for lost or damaged books Locker padlocks must also be handed in by Friday 22nd June, by which date all lockers should have been cleared. We must have the proper padlock, as originally issued: failure to hand this in will result in a bill for 25. There will be no access to lockers on Leavers Afternoon.

Please bear in mind that those who have not handed in their leaving forms or settled bills will not have their examination results given to them on Results Day in August. GETTING YOUR RESULTS If you MOVE home during the summer, make sure you let us know your new address! Results day Thursday 23rd August 10.00 a.m. at school. If unable to collect your results in person you will need to leave an A4 envelope with a large letter stamp and your home address written on it at the Exams Office for results to be posted home. If you want someone else to collect your results for you you will need to write and sign a letter to that effect and give this in to the Exams Office. The person collecting your results must bring in Photo Identification (e.g. Drivers Licence) or we will not be able to give them your results. THE COLLECTION OF COURSEWORK / CONTROLLED ASSESSMENTS Art coursework can be collected from the Art department in the week beginning 5th November only. You must contact Mrs. Watkins in advance so that it is ready for collection. In other subjects, the rules about collection of coursework vary. Please contact the head of subject to find out if and when collection of coursework is possible. Unless exam board regulations state otherwise, coursework will be destroyed after Wednesday 14 th November due to lack of storage facilities. GCSE CERTIFICATES The school will receive the official GCSE certificates by the end of October. The certificates will be available for collection from the school office from mid-november. Please remember to collect your certificates as replacements will be expensive. Should you prefer we can post the certificates to you by recorded delivery at a cost of 2.50, payment to be paid via Parent Pay no later than 20th July. Certificates not collected/ posted will be destroyed in accordance with exam board regulations soon after September 2019. Replacement certificates will be available from exam boards at a cost of approximately 120 (3 x 40). ENQUIRIES ABOUT RESULTS Any enquiries about exam results should be addressed to Mr. Quinn (Deputy Head, Exams) or the Head of Subject as soon as possible. They may be able to advise you about a possible review of marking, clerical checks or the return of scripts. The exam board deadline for enquiries about results will be Monday 17th September. Good luck with all of your exams.
