Parents may call their child s teacher if they feel a conference is needed or a parent will be invited to attend if the teacher or principal feel a conference is needed. Conferences will take place today between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Please note that our district policy encourages you to contact your child s teacher anytime during the school year if you have questions or concerns. There will be 1/2 day of school for students in K-5 today! The mission of New Groningen Elementary School, in partnership with staff, family, and community, is to promote learning as a lifelong goal by providing opportunities for all students to succeed. Author Visit to NG Date to be determined! New Groningen will be hosting an author visit from Ruth McNally Barshaw! She is the author/illustrator of The Ellie McDoodle series (similar to Diary of a Wimpy Kid) and the illustrator of the picture book, Leopold the Lion. Students will have the opportunity to draw with her, hear about the writing process, and even create an interactive story, where she will leave with a cliffhanger -type ending that students will be encouraged to finish. She will also accommodate pre-order book sales as well. If you re interested in a signed copy of one of her books, fill out the Book Order Form that will be coming home soon. ZPS Art Show Students will become lifelong learners who are responsible, respectful, and prepared to be global citizens. ZPS Art Show - March 19th 6:00-8:00 p.m. Students will receive an invitation if their art has been selected for the ZPS Art Show. Anyone can view the show and come to the opening at the Royal Atrium on March 19th at 6:00 p.m. Creekside Middle School 5th Grade Transition Night Date: Thursday, April 19th Times: 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. OR 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Where: Creekside Gymnasium (enter through the gym entrance on the east side of the building). The information will be the same for both time frames. Choose the one that fits best with your family. Students are encouraged to attend but not mandatory. After school pick up reminder Families- please be respectful of our neighbors when you are picking up your child. We ask that you pick them up from the front door area each day. If you choose to park on Burton Road, please do NOT block driveways. Our neighbors are very gracious with our busy after school traffic, so be kind and do not block the entrance to their homes. Thank you! DON T FORGET March 5th - 1/2 day of School - Dismissal is at 12:00 noon! March 5th - Parent/ Teacher Conferences 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. by appointment only. March 21st - NGFA Parent Meeting at 2:00 p.m. in the office conference room. Chipotle Fundraiser Event - March 12th Please see the attached flyer for more information on this event. All Shook Up - Spring Musical by ZHS Players Tickets are now on sale for ALL SHOOK UP! Cityside 5th to 6th Grade Transition Night Middle School If your 5th grader is headed to Cityside for 6th Grade for 2018-2019, the Transition Night for Cityside is Thursday, April 19th at 6:00-7:00 p.m. If you would like to visit Cityside Middle School, please let your teacher know and they will be able to give you more information on the 5th Grade Visit in March. Donuts with Dad - March 14th & 15th This day is an opportunity for students and their father, grandpa, uncle, and/or other special guest to enjoy a morning donut along with coffee or milk before the school day begins. Come join us in the Anchor starting at 8:00 am and ending by 8:35 am for a time of fun with your child. You may join us on the following dates based on your last name: March 14th - Last name beginning with A-L 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. March 15th - Last name beginning with M-Z 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. We look forward to seeing you there!
