BOOK CLUBS THE BOOK HEADS AMELIA YOUNG ADULT BOOK CLUB The Book Heads will meet on Friday, December 2nd, at 5:30 P.M. to discuss chapters 6-13 of the book The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one. Now, it's the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth's last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie's only hope for rescuing her brother--or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up. BERWICK BRANCH ADULT BOOK CLUB The Berwick Branch Library Book Club for Adults will meet on Thursday, December 15th, at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the book Christmas Jars by Jennifer McMahon. Rising newspaper reporter Hope Jensen uncovers the secret behind the "Christmas Jars" glass jars filled with coins and bills anonymously given to people in need. But Hope discovers much more than she bargained for when some unexpected news sets off a chain reaction of kindness and brings above a Christmas Eve wish come true. If you are interested in joining or for more information, please call the Berwick Branch Library at 985-385-2943. Anyone interested in joining this young adult book club or would like more information, please call the library at 985-631-2262. ADULT BOOK CLUB The Centerville Branch Library Book Club for Adults will meet on Wednesday, December 21st at 10:30 a.m. to discuss the book The 13th Gift, by Nora Roberts. After the unexpected death of her husband, Joanne Huist Smith had no idea how she would keep herself together and be strong for her three children--especially with the holiday season approaching. But 12 days before Christmas, presents begin appearing on her doorstep with notes from their "true friends." As the Smiths came together to solve the mystery of who the gifts were from, they began to thaw out from their grief and come together again as a family. This true story about the power of random acts of kindness will warm the heart, a beautiful reminder of the miracles of Christmas and the gift of family during the holiday season. If you are interested in joining or for more information, please call the Centerville Branch Library at 337-836-1717. THE PAGE BENDERS CENTERVILLE YOUNG ADULT BOOK CLUB The Centerville Branch Library Book Club for Young Adults will meet on Tuesday, December 20th, at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the book Escape From Mr. Lemoncello s Library, by Julie T. Lamana. Kyle Keeley is the class clown and a huge fan of all games board games, word games, and particularly video games. His hero, Luigi Lemoncello, the most notorious and creative gamemaker in the world, just so happens to be the genius behind the construction of the new town library. Lucky Kyle wins a coveted spot as one of twelve kids invited for an overnight sleepover in the library, hosted by Mr. Lemoncello and riddled with lots and lots of games. But when morning comes, the doors stay locked. Kyle and the other kids must solve every clue and figure out every secret puzzle to find the hidden escape route! If you are interested in joining or for more information, please call the Centerville Branch Library at 337-836-1717. Page 4 Lagniappe December 2016

BOOK CLUBS FRANKLIN BRANCH ADULT BOOK CLUB The Franklin Branch Library Adult Book Club will meet on Thursday, December 8th, at 4:15 p.m. to discuss the book The Perfect Christmas, by Debbie Macomber. For Cassie Beaumont, it's meeting her perfect match. Cassie, at thirty-three, wants a husband and kids, and so far nothing's worked. Not blind dates, not the internet and certainly not leaving love to chance. What other options are there? Well she could hire a professional matchmaker. Simon Dodson has quite a reputation, but he's very choosy about the clients he takes on and very expensive. Cassie considers him a difficult, acerbic know-it-all, and she's astonished when he accepts her as a client. Claiming he has her perfect mate in mind, Simon assigns her three tasks to complete before she meets this paragon. Three tasks that are all about Christmas: being a charity bell-ringer, dressing up as Santa's elf at a mall and preparing a traditional turkey dinner for her neighbors (most of whom she happens to dislike). Despite a number of comical mishaps, Cassie does it all and then she's finally ready to meet her match. But just like the perfect Christmas gift, he turns out to be a wonderful surprise! We are sorry to announce that our club is at full capacity. PATTERSON BRANCH ADULT BOOK CLUB The Patterson Branch Book Club does not meet during the month of December.
