Texas Victim Services Association 6800 West Gate Blvd., Suite 132, Box 376, Austin, TX 78745-9997 CALL FOR PROPOSALS OVERVIEW 20 th Anniversary Celebration & Biannual Conference May 2-5, 2017 South Padre Island, Texas Texas Victim Services Association is pleased to announce the call for workshop proposals for our 20 th Anniversary Celebration and Biannual Conference! Founded in 1997, the mission of the Texas Victim Services Association is education, support, and recognition for victim service providers in Texas. Our biannual conference is one of the ways we perform our mission and realize our vision: the delivery of a full range of consistent, high-quality, professional services to crime victims, their families, and communities. The three-day event is designed to provide a forum to share current expertise that is informing practice and emerging responses in different settings and disciplines. The conference committee invites proposals that: Address current challenges faced by professionals in the field and are solution-oriented. Deliver model practices using approaches for different types of learners. Stimulate and provoke discussion and audience engagement. Present evidence based on or supported by research. Engage new, mid-career, or seasoned professionals. Use multimedia approaches to enhance attendee learning. Explore issues important to diverse victim service professionals. CONFERENCE TRACKS Program Management in Victim Services Promoting Social Equity and Justice Advancing Victim Services Field Practice Innovations in Victim Services SPECIFICATIONS In selecting topics for presentation, the conference organizers will look for those that represent the broad range of crimes, victim types and demographics. Breakout sessions will be 90 minutes long which includes time for audience questions. Sessions can be a single presenter or co-presenters or panel. Panels are limited to three presenters on the same topic. Each panelist will make a formal presentation with time allocated for audience questions. 2017 TVSA Conference 1

Selected presenters must register for the conference. Submission of a proposal indicates an acceptance of these terms. If you are submitting multiple proposals, please complete a separate form for each. The proposal form is designed as an easy fill-in-the blank format that solicits all the information TVSA requires to consider your proposal. Please answer each question fully; incomplete proposals will not be considered. If there is more than one presenter for this proposal, the person submitting the form will be considered the lead presenter and will be the point of contact TVSA will use to communicate with for anything related to this proposal. It will be the responsibility of the lead presenter to notify co-presenters/panelists of any information related to the proposal. Please make sure to list the correct email address, as this will be the primary method of communication. Space has been provided to list additional presenters. Selected presenters will be notified of the deadline and instructions for material submissions. Please save your proposal with the file name: [Lead Presenter s Name] TVSA 20 th Anniversary Conference Proposal. When emailing this form back to TVSA, the subject line should read the same as the file name: [Lead Presenter s Name] TVSA 20 th Anniversary Conference Proposal form. The deadline for emailing completed proposals is close of business (central time) February 3, 2017 to info@txvsa.org. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How does TVSA select workshops for the conference? After careful review the conference committee will select workshops that create a well-rounded program reflective of the diverse needs of our constituents. All proposals should be completed for accuracy and detail, and be clear, concise, relevant, original, and thought provoking. TVSA generally receives many more proposals than we can accommodate during our education events, and will not be able to accept all proposals. Your interest in being part of this event is appreciated. What benefits do I get as a presenter? Unfortunately, TVSA cannot pay presenter honoraria, travel, lodging, meals or other but extends the following options: Reduced conference fee for presenters choosing to attend the conference (if selected workshop has more than one presenter the same rate will apply to all presenters). Free admission to the conference if attendance is limited to the day of the presenter s workshop. 2017 TVSA Conference 2

Selected presenters will receive further detailed instructions on how to select the registration options. Will audio/visual technology be provided? TVSA will provide a laptop and LCD projector in each presentation space. It is the responsibility of the presenter(s) to plan for any additional desired technology at their own cost. Should the workshop be chosen for presentation, more information on how to secure additional technology will be provided at that time. For questions or additional information, please email info@txvsa.org. 2017 TVSA Conference 3
