North Coast Music Group is a collaboraeon of independent promoters in Chicago: Cold Grum ProducEons, Metronome Chicago, and React Presents. We have more than a combined 50 years of experience preseneng small shows to large stadium events, that specialize in electronic, indie rock, hip- hop jam band and many other genres. North Coast Music FesEval is our celebraeon to celebrate both music and the wonderful people who enjoy it as much as we do. Volunteer Requirements The BREAKDOWN Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older as of August 16, 2013. Volunteers will not receive monetary compensaeon. Volunteers must pay the $10 nonrefundable applicaeon fee. Volunteers must pay the $65 deposit (will be returned a[er compleeon of volunteer obligaeon.) FAQs How do I apply? Download the 2013 volunteer applicaeon from the North Coast website. Go to the contact us seceon of the North Coast Chicago website then apply. The deadline is Friday August 16, 2013. What do I need to apply? Each volunteer must complete the volunteer applicaeon, pay a $10 nonrefundable applicaeon fee, and put down $65 for a deposit. How do I pay the applica1on fee and deposit? There are two ways to pay for the applicaeon fee and deposit: 1. By Credit Card Complete the credit card payment form found in the North Coast volunteer applicaeon. Volunteers who pay by credit card will be charged $75 dollars ($10 applicaeon fee and $65 deposit) when applicaeon is received, or within five business days of the applicaeon deadline (August 16th). The deposit will be refunded by check a[er the volunteer obligaeon is complete. If you choose to pay by credit card, you may submit your applicaeon electronically to volunteer@northcoasdeseval.com. OR 2. Cash and Money Order The applicaeon fee and deposit must be paid separately if you choose to pay by cash and money order. If you choose to pay by cash and money order you must submit your volunteer applicaeon by mail. Applica1on Fee The $10 applicaeon fee may be paid by cash or blank money order. The money order must be blank. Deposit The $65 deposit cannot be paid in cash. The deposit MUST be paid with a blank money order.
What is a money order and where can I get one? A money order is a document that orders a sum of money to be paid to a person. In other words, it s a way to transfer funds to another person or business. You can acquire one at your local bank, credit union (Western Union, etc.,) or major- chain grocer (Jewel or Dominick's). How do I fill out a money order? Here are a few Eps on how to purchase a money order. Be sure to ask for a BLANK money order. A Blank money order leaves the Pay to the Order to poreon blank. 1. Choose a insetueon to purchase your money order. 2. Ask for a BLANK money order for the desired amount. A. $10 blank money order for the applicaeon fee (opeonal if paying applicaeon fee with cash or paying with credit car) B. $65 blank money order for deposit (must be a blank money order unless paying by credit card). 3. Pay the small fee for the money order. 4. Fill out the money order A. Put your name in the From, Purchaser, Sender, or Remi?er seceon. B. Fill out your address. 5. Keep your receipt! 6. Paperclip your money order(s) in your volunteer applicaeon. Why do I leave my money order(s) blank? To ensure that your deposit can be returned directly to you a[er you complete your volunteer obligaeon. Why do you require an applica1on form, an applica1on fee, and a deposit? In order to ensure that volunteers are serious about exchanging their Eme for free entry into the feseval, we require an applicaeon fee and deposit to secure your shi[. The applicaeon form helps the volunteer coordinators place you in the appropriate posieon. When and how will I get my deposit back? Your deposit will be returned to you a[er your volunteer obligaeon is complete. If you pay your deposit by credit card, you will receive a refund by check in the mail. The check will be sent to your specified applicaeon address within ten business days of the end of the feseval. If you paid your deposit by money order, your money order will be returned to you at the feseval when your volunteer obligaeon is complete. Most volunteer posieons focus on patron services. A volunteer may be asked to switch posieons as last minute changes may occur. Informa1on Booth - AssisEng patrons with queseons and concerns (info, lost and found, greeters, etc) and ensuring that patrons a wonderful experience at the feseval. Volunteer Check- in - Checking- in guests into the feseval. Ticket Booth - Scanning Eckets for entry in the feseval. Volunteer Team Leads - Supervising and informing volunteers of roles and expectaeons of their shi[s. Team Leads work all three days of the feseval from open to close. More posieons may be added if needed. What are the perks of being a volunteer? You get a really awesome limited edieon, 2013 North Coast volunteer t- shirt, free water and entrance into the feseval (a half day if you work a 6- hour shi[ and a full day for a 9- hour shi[. How long is each shi[? Volunteer shi[s are a morning or evening 6- hour shi[s and a morning or evening 9- hour shi[s. 6- hour shi[ - Volunteers working a 6- hour shi[ may enter the feseval before or a[er his or her shi[. 9- hour shi[ - Volunteers working a 9- hour shi[ may enter the feseval for a full day on their non- volunteer day. The more flexible you are in for shi[ schedule, the more likely you are to be chosen as a volunteer Will I receive a break during my shi[? Volunteers working a 9- hour shi[ will receive a lunch or dinner break. Volunteers working a 6- hour shi[ will not receive a schedule break. Where do I check- in for my shi[? Volunteer check- in is located by the main gate. Volunteers are expected to check- in 15 minutes before their shi[ begins to be briefed about assigned duees and receive the 2013 North Coast t- shirt. Can I choose my shi[? The volunteer applicaeon allows you to request certain shi[s. Your requests will be considered during scheduling, but requests are not guaranteed.
. Can I work with a friend? If you d like to work with a friend, please list your friend s name in the addieonal notes seceon of the applicaeon. We will do our best to schedule you and your friend(s) during the same shi[. The more flexible you are with your availability, the easier it is for us to schedule you and your friend(s) together. What should I wear and bring? Please wear comfortable clothing, closed- toed shoes. Please bring a government issued ID. You will need it to check- in. Earplugs, sunglasses, sunscreen, a water bo?le, and snacks are other items that you may also want to bring. North Coast Chicago DOES NOT provide a locaeon for volunteers to keep their personal items. You may want to bring a small bag or backpack to carry your personal items. Can I request to see a band? The volunteer applicaeon form allows you to request three arests to see. We will do our best to accommodate your requests, but cannot guarantee you will have the opportunity to see specific talent. Many shi[s are located inside the feseval grounds, where you may have the opportunity to hear requested talent while working a shi[. Can I meet the ar1sts or go backstage? No. For the safety and integrity of the feseval, only authorized staff will be able to go backstage or interact with arests or bands. Can I wear my super- awesome, limited edi1on 2013 North Coast volunteer shirt inside the fes1val when I m not working? No. Please take your super- awesome, limited edieon 2013 North Coast volunteer shi[ off when you are not working. When will I know if I have been accepted as a volunteer? All applicants will be noefied within a week of applying if they have been accepted or not. What happens if I am relieved of my du1es by my supervisor? If a volunteer is relieved of your duees by the volunteer coordinator for alcohol or drug use, unethical behavior, or failure to perform assigned duees, the volunteer forfeits his or her deposit. Absolutely no excepeons will be made or discussed. How I can lose my deposit? What if I decide to not volunteer anymore? If you decide to step- down from your volunteer posieon, please email the volunteer coordinator on or before August 21, 2013 to receive your deposit. Volunteers who submit cancellaeon requests a[er September 4th, 2013 forfeit their deposit. Does North Coast Chicago provide housing for volunteers? No. North Coast Chicago does not provide housing or camping for volunteers. Volunteers must find their own housing.
