DO RE MI GOSPEL MUSIC ACADEMY, INC. Thank you for choosing THE DO RE MI GOSPEL MUSIC ACADEMY, INC. for your gospel music education. The Academy is devoted to helping the church by strengthening and improving music for the honor and glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Students will be blessed with gospel music education by exploring and improving their God given talents and will enjoy singing activities, both individual and group along with special concerts, Christian fellowship, and recreation. This Family Information Packet is designed to assist in planning by providing the student and family with important information about the Academy and the weeks activities. 2018 New Program SHAPE Week Singing in Harmony And Pursuing Excellence A new program for ages 13 and up will be offered this year at Do Re Mi. Students may attend SHAPE week (June 3-9) and remain for the traditional Do Re Mi Session (June 9-16). Registration for students attending SHAPE Week will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday June 3 rd. Registration for the traditional Do Re Mi Session will be held on Saturday June 9 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. All registration will occur in the office. DORMITORY AND RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM The goal of our on campus dormitory and residential program is to insure the safety and welfare of each student. The residential program support staff will help the student make new friends and foster old friendships while providing supervision and support services to assure a safe, enjoyable time at the Academy. On-campus dormitory students MUST BE 8 YEARS OF AGE. Separate male and female dorms serve the students and staff. The dormitories are bunk bed style. The student will need to furnish linens, pillow, blankets, personal items, etc. Please refer to the Items listed in the To Bring section of this Family Information packet. Some dorm rooms are designed to share a full bathroom, including shower, commode and lavatory, with the adjoining room. A community shower and restroom in each dormitory serves the general population. Students are required to keep a clean and neat dorm room. Dormitory students have a required dorm check-in and lights-out policy as follows: Age 8 to 12 must be in room by 10:00 p.m. lights out by 10:30 p.m. Age 13 and over must be in room by 10:30 p.m. lights out by 11:00 p.m. 2

Do Re Mi River Retreat Office 275 Cedar Bluff Road Hartsville, Tennessee 37074 TIDBITS OF IMPORTANT INFORMATION Upon arrival, follow the parking signs and report directly to the registration area. Please bring your luggage, personal items, and any remaining fees that you owe. After registration, report to your dorm for room assignment. Staff will be available to assist with your luggage and check-in. Roommates are assigned by age, according to space availability. Students may request a roommate in their age group; however, THE ACADEMY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE FINAL BED ASSIGNMENTS. After dinner, students will assemble in the Lodge for introductions, orientation and meet and greet. Dorm meetings will be held by the dorm supervisors and staff after assembly. SONGBIRDS & SPARROWS classes are offered for one week ONLY - June 11-16, 2018. Parents are encouraged to pre-register for these classes as space is limited but can wait until Monday June 11 to check in at the office between 8:00-8:15. Please note spaces are limited. A spot for your child will only be held if full payment accompanies your registration. Both Songbirds and Sparrows will ATTEND FOR A HALF DAY ONLY. STUDENTS MUST BE PICKED UP AT NOON. CHILD CARE IS NOT PROVIDED BY THE ACADEMY. The Do Re Mi Gospel Music Academy, Inc. reserves the right to use any photograph/video taken at any event sponsored by Do Re Mi, without the expressed written permission of those included within the photograph/video. Do Re Mi may use the photograph/video in publications or other media material produced, used or contracted by Do Re Mi including but not limited to: brochures, invitations, books, newspapers, magazines, television, websites, etc. To ensure the privacy of individuals and children, images will not be identified using full names or personal identifying information without written approval from the photographed subject, parent or legal guardian. A person attending a Do Re Mi event who does not wish to have their image recorded for distribution should make their wishes known to the photographer, and/or the event organizers, and/or contact Do Re Mi at 721 Rucker Lane, Murfreesboro, TN 37128, in writing of his/her intentions and include a photograph. Do Re Mi will use the photo for identification purposes and will hold it in confidence. By participating in a Do Re Mi event or by failing to notify Do Re Mi, in writing, your desire to not have your photograph used by Do Re Mi, you are agreeing to release, defend, hold harmless and indemnify Do Re Mi from any and all claims involving the use of your picture or likeness. Any person or organization not affiliated with Do Re Mi may not use, copy, alter or modify Do Re Mi photographs, graphics, videography or other, similar reproductions or recordings without the advance written permission of an authorized designee from Do Re Mi. 3

DORMITORY CHECKOUT AND CLOSING PERFORMANCE The closing performance will be held Saturday, June 16, beginning at 2:00 p.m. The location will be announced later. Students will have assigned seats for the performance and must be in their seats by 1:40 p.m. The closing performance will run approximately one and one half hours. ALL STUDENTS ARE ASKED TO BE RESPECTFUL OF THE CHURCH AND WEAR CHURCH CLOTHING. DORM CHECK OUT TIME ON Saturday, June 16 is 11:30 a.m. Dorm staff will be available for assistance. Parents please plan to pick up your child by 11:30 a.m. at the Academy. LUNCH AND TRANSPORTATION TO THE CHURCH ARE ON YOUR OWN. Local restaurants are listed at the end of this packet. There will be no lunch served at the Retreat on Saturday, June 16. ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO CLEAN THEIR DORM ROOM PRIOR TO CHECK-OUT. ROOMS MUST BE CLEANED & VACATED NO LATER THAN 11:30 A.M. PLEASE, DO NOT LEAVE CLOTHES OR OTHER ITEMS. THE CAMPUS WILL NOT BE OPEN OR AVAILABLE AFTER THE CLOSING PROGRAM. DO RE MI SONGBIRDS & SPARROWS A half day commuter program for children age 3-8 is available the week of June 11-16 only. Students will be dropped off in their classroom at 8:30 and picked up in their classroom by noon. The Sparrows class is intended to serve all 3-4 year olds and children ages 5-8 are intended to be placed in the Songbirds class. Please note placement in these classes will be determined by enrollment. Child care services are not provided by the Academy; therefore, all Songbirds & Sparrows must be picked up by noon. Under no circumstances will these students be allowed to remain on campus unsupervised. IMPORTANT DAILY & WEEKLY DO RE MI HAPPENINGS Devotional services will be held in the morning and evening session. BRING YOUR BIBLE. Meal plans for commuters are available for purchase either at registration or paid daily. Worship service Sunday, June 10, at 11 a.m., followed by lunch. Family & Friends are invited to attend nightly singings and the Sunday Worship service. Special concert by our vocal instructor and Southern Gospel singing great Jonathan Wilburn, will be held on Thursday evening June 14, after dinner. Parents are invited. Jonathan is one of the finest Southern Gospel lead singers ever, and we are honored for him to teach with us at Do Re Mi. His concerts are a worship time to glorify and honor God! He is a former lead singer with Gold City Quartet for over 26 years and has been voted the best of the best! Shaving cream fight on Thursday June 14 during Recreation Time. Fun, Fun, Fun! Closing performance, showcasing the Do Re Mi student talents and abilities will be held on Saturday June 16, at 2:00 p.m., with the location to be announced. 4

See the registration form for commuter details and meal plans. All students who commute must check in, upon arrival on campus. Likewise, check out is required when the student leaves campus. The check in/out location, staffed by a dorm staff person, is located at the Lodge corner of the Boys Dorm. 5

ITEMS TO BRING In addition to your normal clothing and personal items, you will need to bring the following: Bible Hair dryer Softball glove (optional) Twin size top sheet Twin size fitted sheet Twin size blanket Pillow/pillowcase Towels and bath cloths (for duration of stay) Shampoo, soap, all toiletry items Shoes to wear in the shower (flip-flops, etc.) Plastic mesh bag or bucket to hold toiletry items in the shower Tote bag or backpack for school materials Guitar and/or acoustical instrument for private lessons Swimsuit and towel (if needed for shaving cream fight) Snacks *Any medications needed Shaving Cream for Thursday s shaving cream fight on campus lawn *A complete and detailed medication list must be presented to Dorm staff/ medical personnel, upon registration. All students should use conduct that is appropriate for Church events. Conduct should be exemplary before God. PARENTS WILL BE CONTACTED IF CONDUCT IS INAPPROPIATE AND RULES ARE NOT OBSERVED. School approved attire appropriate for public school is expected at the Academy, which may include, shorts, casual shirts, t-shirts and jeans. Clothing deemed unchristian in print and scope will not be appropriate. Please bring one Church outfit to wear for the closing performance singing. Each full-time student will be given a Do Re Mi Gospel Music Academy, Inc. l.d. lanyard for identification. The lanyard is required for safety and security purposes and MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES OUTSIDE OF DORM ROOM. LANYARDS SHALL NOT BE SWAPPED AMONG STUDENTS. 6

PLAN TO ATTEND THE CLOSING PERFORMANCE SINGING The Closing Performance will be held Saturday June 16, at 2:00 p.m. with the location to be announced. This musical program features the students and staff, and finalizes The Do Re Mi Gospel Music Academy week of activities. The Memorial Trophy will be presented to the top classroom as determined by a board of judges. This trophy is presented in honor and recognition of the forefathers of our shape note legacy. Please invite your family and friends, and feel free to bring your camera and video equipment. Plan to ARRIVE EARLY TO GET A SEAT. It is always a standing-room-only performance. All students will attend Closing Performance and should be seated in their assigned seat by 1:40. CHURCH DRESS REQUESTED.
