Mission & Impact Statements Mission CADCAT's mission is to bring together community coalitions, implement proven strategies and policies, and promote a drug-free Tennessee. Background CADCAT was developed to provide county level coalitions training during Tennessee's Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant. CADCAT has continued to be a source of training, coalition development, and information hub for county level coalitions in Tennessee. Impact CADCAT partnered with public and private colleges and universities in Tennessee to establish a communitybased Institutional Review Board and community-based epidemiological work-group to bridge science and the practice of evidence based prevention. CADCAT provides support services to the TN Crime Prevention Coalition and the TN Alliance for Drug Endangered Children. The goals of CADCAT are to provide training, technical assistance, and networking opportunities to the State's prevention coalitions; establish collaborative efforts to sustain prevention services in Tennessee; to track data and substance abuse reduction initiatives; to assist development and advocacy for State and Federal policy related to prevention of alcohol and drug abuse; and to develop and support college campus and community prevention coalitions. Needs CADCAT needs assistance with infrastructure and organizational development; assistance to secure funding to support staffing to assist local coalition development, problem-solving, and technical assistance needs in the counties throughout Tennessee; and to develop a fund to assist cash flow for operations related to reimbursement grants. Programs Programs TN Crime Prevention Coalition Description Category Tennessee Crime Prevention Coalition (TCPC)-This program is currently funded through fee for service. TCPC was developed to provide leadership for Crime Prevention by building partnerships in which communities can share resources, provide training and educate the public. One of the primary goals of TCPC is to provide outreach and education to special populations at high risk for victimization. Crime & Legal, General/Other Population Served,, TN Campus/Community Coalition Project Description The TN Campus/Community Coalition Project is funded through theus Department of Education. The Tennessee Campus/Community Coalition Project (TCCCP, pronounced tee -sep) will build the network of key stakeholders and their capacity to target the nexus of college campus with community to reduce 30-day alcohol use and 30-day binge drinking among under-age students at participating IHEs. TCCCP will focus Community Anti-Drug Coalition s (CADCAT s) existing member-network of campus/community coalitions, local community anti-drug coalitions and state partners to bolster comprehensive, data-driven efforts to target this problem. It will support existing and build new campus/community coalitions, bringing the expertise of public and private state-level partners to create population-level change through community-based process and environmental strategies, while promoting a no use message to students under the minimum legal drinking age. Population Served,, TN Technical Assistance Program Description TN Technical Assistance Program is funded by SAMHSA/CSAP throughtn Department of Mental Health, Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services. These programs provide training, technical assistance to identified counties and support goals. By providing these services, they allow the identified counties to improve prevention services in their area, which in turn, builds the capacity of the community and state to provide greater prevention services.
