State of Michigan American Legion Convention The following Post & Auxiliary members at the 2016 Michigan Legacy Ride end point at Sault Saint Marie, Mi. This was the location of the American Legion s state convention this year. Jason, taking his turn at the putting contest. There were 22 teams of golfers who braved the 98 weather! Back at the post dinner was served and great prizes were given out! A big thank you to Chip and his staff who did a great job this year! Next spaghetti dinners are on Aug 12 & Sept 9 4 th Friday of August-Sloppy Joes & Pulled Pork 5-7:30 pm Sloppy Joe Plates are $2.00 with additional Sloppy Joe for $2.00, opened faced sloppy joes $4.00. Starting in September, Sloppy Joe/Pulled Pork night will move to the 4 th THURSDAY of each month. American Legion Riders ALR Steak Dinner Steak dinner takes place on the 1 st Saturday of each month. The dinners include a cooked to order NY strip steak, a baked potato, beans, salad, roll, and homemade pies; apple, cherry, lemon meringue, all for $12.00! Continuing Auxiliary Events JEANS FOR GI'S The Auxiliary is still accepting new or gently used jeans for our veterans. If you have any jeans that you would like to donate to this project please drop them off at the post. There is a bin marked "JEANS FOR GI'S" in the foyer of the post home. Please deposit them in this box. Yes, ladies jeans are also accepted. If you have any questions, please contact our committee chairman, Linda Wallace, at 734-878-6633. National Security Programs Box Top labels and labels from food items marked Educational on them are still being collected. There is a yellow canister at the Post (by the coffee area) to drop the box top labels in. Also remember to bring in any old cell phones to donate to the Cell Phones for Soldiers project. Upcoming Livingston County Event Livingston County Veteran s Appreciation Picnic The Livingston County Veterans Council and DNR are again hosting their annual picnic to show appreciation for our county veterans at Chilson Pond. Cross roads, Chilson Rd & Bishop Lake Rd (behind the DNR Office). The picnic is FREE to all veterans and their families and starts at noon and goes till 4 pm. Food & beverages will be served.
