Your Journey: A World of Opportunity

About us Global Educational Concepts, Inc. (GEC) is located in Nashville, TN. We are a designated sponsor of the U.S. Department of State s J-1 Summer Work Travel and Internship programs. We fully support and believe in the public diplomacy opportunities these exchange programs offer our Participants, Host families and Host Employers. The leadership of GEC has over 100 years of combined experience working directly with thousands of international students. We seek to provide the best service and support possible to the young people who participate in our programs while adhering to the regulations that govern these programs. Our program participants can be found living, working, and training all across the U.S.

Programs J1 Internships for hospitality and culinary students or graduates: Culinary Food and Beverage Rooms Division Pay rates range from $11 to $14 per hour depending on location, Department and experience. J1 Work and Travel Seasonal Summer Program Food and Beverage Pay rates range from $10 to $14 per hour depending on location, Department and experience Internships last 12 months 3

Summer Work Travel The J-1 Summer Work Travel program s primary purpose is for public diplomacy efforts through cultural exchanges between people of different countries. Eligible participants are full time students visiting the U.S. during their university academic summer break. Different from a tourist visa, the student will experience U.S. culture first hand by working with Americans for up to 4 months while also participating in cultural experiences that include meeting local Americans, seeing local attractions and experiencing first hand the typical activities in their local community. Cultural experiences can be as simple as eating dinner with an American family in their home or adventurous excursions such as a weekend road trip to our nation s capital.

Once a student has successfully completed their work component, they will have up to 30 days to travel the U.S. to enjoy the sights and prepare to return home before the official start date of their university academic year. International students who participate in a J-1 program must have a sponsor who is responsible for the oversight of their program. Before the participants enter the U.S., GEC facilitates the application process and determines student eligibility to apply for a J-1 visa at the U.S. embassy in their home country. Our placements with Host Employers are screened and vetted for J-1 suitability. GEC does not partner with or approve Host Employers that cannot meet the strict vetting requirements or those that do not understand and fully support the cultural purpose of these programs. Once the student has arrived in the U.S., GEC supports the student in an effort for a positive life changing experience in the U.S.
