2015-16 NC STEM Advisory Board Committee Charges 1) Funding Proposals Committee: Doug, Jose, Paul, Rich a) Develop methods to assist potential applicants to create high quality applications for regional STEM funding proposals b) Develop a comprehensive review process for regional STEM funding proposals i) Lead the board in developing details for the rubrics provided by the funding application ii) Develop a manageable timeline for board to review applications (1) STEM Businesses Engaging Students and Teachers & STEM Redesigned Learning Environments (due September) (2) STEM Innovation Fund - tentative based upon funding (due November) (3) STEM Scale-Up (due March) iii) Conduct a process review assessment Progress Metrics: amount of usage/attendance/participation in application assistance, number of scale up applicants, quality of scale up applications, results from process review assessment 2) STEM Festivals Committee: Julie, Richard, Robin, Sarah a) Modify the guide for organizations interested in hosting a STEM Festival in North Central Region. b) Develop a regional policy for financial support available for new and returning festivals c) Develop a method for consistent and reliable data collection for STEM festival participants d) Recruit and assist with planning for additional STEM Festivals with a goal of 4 festivals per year geographically distributed within the region i) Current festivals in Marshalltown and Mason City will need some support ii) Boone, Armstrong are/may consider hosting one iii) Determine criteria to be used to determine if NC region would co-host a STEM Festival located within another region. For instance: SC region has asked if we are interested in partnering for a DMACC Ankeny festival on Oct 19 th e) Conduct a review assessment of STEM festival organizing committees Progress Metrics: Creation of NC STEM Festival Guide, data reports from each STEM Festival, number of STEM festivals, geographic distribution of festivals, and results from assessment of STEM festival organizing committees 3) Regional Promotion of Iowa STEM Committee: Ben, Camille, David, John a) Develop and implement a plan where all NC Board members participate in promotional efforts to increase awareness of state STEM within business, industry, formal educators, informal educators and community colleges in region i) Secure opportunities for presentations/discussions of mission of state STEM ii) Increase & focus efforts of newsletter/promotion within the region iii) Use of social media in promotion b) Create a monitoring tool for NC Board members to easily document their efforts in promotion of STEM* 5
c) Assist with organizing Business Panel Discussion on campus with Lt.
