CONTEST RULES Number of tickets printed: 160,000 Ticket price: $2 Contest rules available at http://www.pc.ca/charity/ TICKET SALES President s Choice Children s Charity Prize Draw 2014 Edition 1. To qualify for the prize draw, participants must purchase a ticket for $2 and write their full name, address and home or cell number on the ticket stub. 2. The ticket sale period for the President s Choice Children s Charity (hereinafter the PC Charity ) Prize Draw begins on May 16, 2014, and ends on July 4, 2014. The sale period may end earlier if all tickets are sold. 3. Ticket purchases are final and non-refundable. 4. One hundred and sixty thousand (160,000) tickets have been printed and numbered from 000001 to 160000. 5. Tickets may be purchased from Loblaws Inc. employees working in participating Québec stores under the Provigo, Provigo Le Marché TM, Maxi, Maxi & Cie, Loblaws, Presto and Club Entrepôt banners. They may also be purchased in Provigo a member of the Loblaw group distribution and store support centres and from select Loblaw-designated vendors and partners, if any. 6. PRIZE DRAW The prize draw of twenty-five (25) winning ticket stubs from all eligible entries will take place at the Provigo a member of the Loblaw group distribution centre, located at 400 Sainte-Croix Avenue, Saint-Laurent, Québec H4N 3L4, at 9 a.m. on July 31, 2014. The odds of winning depend on the total number of tickets sold. Someone unrelated to the PC Charity will draw the winning ticket stubs from all entries received by the contest closing date. The ticket stubs drawn will not be put back into the box, so a winning ticket stub may be eligible for only one prize. The draw for the Grand Prize will occur first, followed immediately in order by the draws for the travel credit, the two computers and the 21 President s Choice gift cards. After verification of their eligibility, the twenty-five (25) participants whose names are drawn and whose ticket stubs are deemed eligible will be notified in accordance with the Claiming Prizes section below. Any ticket stub drawn that is deemed ineligible will be automatically disqualified. Another ticket stub will be drawn in its place from the remaining entries. PRIZES The following prizes are available to be won. The PC Charity will contact the potential winners by phone the day after or a few days after the draw of the twenty-five (25) ticket stubs. Only one attempt will be made to contact the potential winners. If a selected participant cannot be reached, a message will be left on his or her answering machine or voice mail. The PC Charity will make no other attempt to reach the individual. If any of the twenty-five (25) selected participants cannot be reached and does not have an answering machine or voice mail on which a message can be left, his or her entry will be disqualified. Another ticket stub will be drawn in its place from the remaining entries. The participant whose name is on that stub must be reachable by phone or have an answering machine or voice mail on which a message can be left. The potential winners for whom a message is left will have until 5 p.m. on August 11, 2014, to contact the contest organizer, failing which their ticket stub will be disqualified, and the related prize will not be awarded. The PC Charity will send written confirmation by mail to the individuals it was able to reach or who contacted the PC charity in accordance with the foregoing. 2. To be declared winners, participants who receive written confirmation from the PC Charity must abide by each and every one of the general eligibility criteria below, in particular those set forth in Sections 8, 9 and 10 below. Prizes must be accepted as awarded and as described above in these Contest Rules. Prizes may not be transferred, redeemed for cash or exchanged, except for the alternative provided for in the Grand Prize description. 3. The Grand Prize winner will have until 5 p.m. on August 15, 2014, to indicate to the contest organizer whether he or she prefers the car or the lump sum payment. The winners of the Runner-Up Prizes will have until 5 p.m. on September 26, 2014, to claim their prize at the following locations, depending on the prize won, failing which the prize will not be awarded: for President s Choice Children s Charity Prize Draw Page 3 of 5
the $8,000 travel credit and the two computers, at the Provigo a member of the Loblaw group store support centre, located at 400 Sainte-Croix Avenue, Saint-Laurent, Québec H4N 3L4; for the President s Choice gift cards, at the store that the PC Charity indicated in its written confirmation. GENERAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 1. The prize draw is open to all residents of Québec aged 18 and over. 2. Only official ticket stubs will be accepted. No photocopy or manual reproduction will be accepted. 3. Ticket stubs must show the full name and address of the participant. Any incomplete ticket stubs will be automatically disqualified, as will any ticket stubs on which participants have used aliases or other name substitutes. 4. All entries become the property of the PC Charity, which assumes no liability for the loss, theft or receipt of entries, or any technical, mechanical or electronic problem that may delay the receipt of ticket stubs and affect their eligibility. 5. All ticket stubs are subject to verification by the contest organizer. By entering the prize draw, participants agree to abide by these Contest Rules and by the decisions of the contest organizer, which are final and binding in all respects. 6. The PC Charity reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to end or modify contest terms at any time without notice, subject to approval by the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec. 7. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws. No correspondence will be sent to participants; only the individuals whose names are drawn and whose ticket stubs are deemed eligible will be notified by telephone and, where applicable, by mail. All amounts to which these Contest Rules refer are in Canadian currency. 8. By entering the Contest, participants authorize the PC Charity and its representatives to use, for advertising or promotional purposes, their name, city of residence, photograph, image, voice and/or statements in connection with the prize draw, without compensation of any kind, for an indefinite period. 9. By entering the Contest, the winners release the PC Charity, Loblaw Companies Limited, Loblaws Inc., Provigo Distribution Inc. and any other member of the Loblaw group, and their related and/or affiliated companies, directors, officers, employees, agents, successors and respective assignees from all liability for bodily injury or property damage that might arise from the acceptance, awarding or use of a prize. 10. Before being officially declared a winner, the selected participant must provide the part of the ticket matching the ticket stub drawn, show valid photo identification and sign a liability release form. 11. Prizes must be accepted as awarded and as described in these Contest Rules. Winners are responsible for any additional fees or costs. Prizes may not be transferred, redeemed for cash or exchanged, except for the alternative provided for in the Grand Prize description. 12. The total value of prizes includes the GST and QST. The Grand Prize total value also includes transportation and preparation fees, tire taxes and the excise tax. The second prize total value also includes the required contribution for the compensation fund administered by the Office de la protection du consommateur. The third prize total value also includes any environmental fees. 13. No receipt for tax purposes will be issued in connection with a ticket purchase. 14. Any dispute concerning the organization or conduct of a prize draw may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec for a ruling. A dispute concerning the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement. 15. In the event of a discrepancy between the English and French versions of these Contest Rules, the French version shall prevail. IDENTITY OF WINNERS The winning ticket stub numbers will be available no later than August 12, 2014, at http://www.pc.ca/charity/ and will be posted in participating Provigo, Provigo Le Marché TM, Maxi, Maxi & Cie and Loblaws stores in Québec, and in the Provigo a member of the Loblaw group distribution and store support centres.
