Introduction The Fondation Louis Vuitton is accessible to all. Free priority entry is given to disabled visitors and the person accompanying them. Priority is also given at the ticket windows and entrances to visitors who are unable to remain standing for extended periods of time. The Fondation offers solutions adapted to each person s needs in order to provide the best possible visiting conditions for all. Blind or visually impaired visitors Free priority access You and one person accompanying you can enjoy free entry to the Fondation by presenting documentary verification of your disability. You can bypass the ticket windows and proceed directly to the priority entrances indicated by the designated symbols or by following the tactile paving. Ticket windows A ticket window suitable for all visitors is available at the Avenue du Mahatma Gandhi entrance on the esplanade facing the Bois de Boulogne. Access By Fondation shuttle The Fondation shuttle runs between Place Charles de Gaulle and the Fondation. The trip is free for disabled persons and the person accompanying them. Shuttles depart every 15 minutes during the Fondation s opening hours. To catch the shuttle, take exit No., Avenue de Friedland, at the Charles de Gaulle-Etoile Metro and RER station. This station is served by Metro lines 1, and 6, and RER line A. By car Reserved parking is available in front of the Fondation entrance. By bus On weekdays, Bus stops at the Jardin d Acclimatation station, about a 10-minute walk from the Fondation. On Saturdays and Sundays, the bus stops at the Fondation Louis Vuitton station in front of the Fondation s main entrance. By metro Metro line 1, station, Fondation Louis Vuitton exit. Please note: the station is about a 15-minute walk from the Fondation. Tactile paving The tactile paving leading to the Fondation consists of two parallel lines of staggered metal strips. The strips are easier to detect when sweeping the ground with a cane. A trail links the reserved parking area situated east of the zebra crossing to both the relief map and the priority entrance. This relief map is a visual and tactile display representing the area surrounding the Fondation and the building façade in relief. Three displays of this type presenting the Fondation can be found in three different locations. The maps show the location of each of these displays around the building. Tactile paving also connects the shuttle s drop-off area to the Fondation s priority entrance. Audible signals Audio signals that can be triggered by a standard remote control are installed to the right of the shuttle drop-off area and to the right of the visual and tactile maps. 1
Reception staff members If necessary, a reception staff member can guide you from the Fondation s esplanade to the information centre located in the entrance hall. Visitor convenience & comfort Guide dogs In accordance with the law, guide dogs are allowed in the Fondation. Building level map To get your bearings in the Fondation, a relief map of the building levels with large letters and Braille is available at the reception desk. Toilets Accessible toilets are located on all levels of the building. Men s and women s toilet facilities are identified in Braille on the door handles. Lifts The lift buttons are identified using Arabic numerals, the Latin alphabet and Braille. Warning indicators at the top of staircases A series of slim metal strips at the top of staircases will warn you of the presence of steps. The strips are easier to detect when sweeping the ground with a cane. The Grotto pools The presence of the pools is indicated by a raised 5 cm curb that follows their contour. They are easier to detect when sweeping the ground with a cane. Magnifying glasses on loan Visually impaired persons can borrow backlit magnifying glasses from the reception desk. You are also invited to notify our staff at reception or the Customer Relations Department of your needs when you arrive or when making a group reservation. Visitor Guidance Tactile and visual displays Outside, along the building s parapets, you will find three displays presenting a relief map of the building and the surrounding area to help you get your bearings. In the group reception area, three scale models will enable you to familiarise yourself with the dimensions of the building by architect Frank Gehry, the construction materials used and the layout of the interior spaces. Staff will be on hand to help you use these displays. Mobile app The Fondation s smartphone app is compatible with Voice Over. It can be downloaded for free. Exhibitions Any possible difficulties in accessing temporary exhibitions are specified on the Inside page of the website. Auditorium Beginning in 015, please consult the Auditorium s schedule to find out which events are likely to have an audio description. Evacuation In the event of evacuation (audible alarm, flashing lights), please find a member of the Fondation staff, who will indicate the procedure to follow.
