Local Government Act 2002 The four well-beings Cultural Economic Environmental Social Introduction Growing cultural wellbeing in the District by fostering community pride through volunteerism Growing long-term economic wellbeing by investing in social capital Growing environmental wellbeing through the provision of resources into the District s communities Growing social wellbeing through the development of community solutions to community issues The purpose of the Operational Support Fund is to provide support with operating expenses or one-off operating costs to eligible community based groups/organisations that provide an ongoing service or benefit to the community. For the 2011-2012 financial year the total funding available from the Operational Support Fund is $50,000. The maximum amount that can be sought through this fund is $10,000. 2011-2012 Applications The 2011-2012 Operational Support Fund was advertised in The Leader over a five week period and applications were available online and from Council s customer service counters at Forum North, Hikurangi and Ruakaka. Applications closed on Friday 12 August 2011. Twenty five applications were received. All applications are listed in the attached summary (see Attachment 1). All applications were assessed on their eligibility and relevance. The criteria for these were outlined on the front of the application form and utilised to assess applications. The total amount requested form the 2011-2012 Operational Support Fund is $165,610.79. The total amount recommended for disbursement is $36,690.00. Recommendations for funding from the 2011-2012 Operational Support Fund are listed below. Recommendation 1. That the information be received. 2. That grants from the 2011-2012 Operational Support Fund be made to the following organisations: a) Kamo Athletics Club $1,000.00 under umbrella of Athletics Northland b) Maungakaramea Recreation Society $3,000.00 c) News for the Blind Readers Group $650.00 under umbrella of The Royal NZ Foundation of the Blind d) Northland Search and Rescue $1,000.00 under umbrella of NZ Land Search and Rescue Community Funding Sub Committee 14 September 2011

Local Government Act 2002 The four well-beings Cultural Economic Environmental Social Introduction Cultural wellbeing is enhanced when there are opportunities to engage in a diverse range of theatre and art performance programmes There is potential economic benefit when major performances attract visitors to the District No direct link Social wellbeing is enhanced as people work together to provide entertainment for their communities The Performing Arts Fund was established by the former Forum North Trust Board. The purpose of the fund is to assist community based groups/organisations that are undertaking a major performing arts event. Previously funded events include the Whangarei Theatre Company s productions of Cats and Jekyll and Hyde ; the production The Rocking Cave held in Waipu; and SMAC s production of Carnival. For the 2011-2012 financial year the total funding available from the Performing Arts Fund is $15,000. The maximum amount that can be sought through this fund is $5,000. 2011-2012 Applications The 2011-2012 Performing Arts Fund was advertised in The Leader over a five week period and applications were available online and from Council s customer service counters at Forum North, Hikurangi and Ruakaka.
