Speaker, Congress of the World Federation for Hospital Sterilization Sciences. Industry sponsored breakfast panel. Brisbane, October 2016. Speaker, Australian Dental Association Conference, Brisbane, March 2015 Professional activities In the past three years I have purposely concentrated on three major areas in terms of professional activity; reviewing of manuscripts and support for professional publications, development of revised web-page and social media profiles for education and development of sponsored value-added materials for clients. I have been a peer reviewer for AJIC, the Journal of Doctoral Nursing and other peer-reviewed, indexed publications. I am a frequent contributor to the Australian Hospital and Health Bulletin always hoping to enhance inter-disciplinary understanding of infection prevention. In 2017 I completed a term of more than a decade as a member of the AJIC Editorial Board. Since 2014 I had been an Associate Editor. I also completed a multi-year appointment as a member of ACIPC s original journal Editorial Board. There were many reasons behind my retirement from those positions. Firstly, I had additional demands as carer for my elderly parent whilst at the same time I 4
was working full-time in my global consulting business and completing a three-year university degree full-time. Having had a rich, fulfilling and illustrious career in infection prevention I was very willing to step-aside from many high-profile positions and instead concentrated on providing behindthe-scenes support to colleagues and peers. As evidenced by my many contributions to multiple conferences and scientific events in Australia and aboard for the period 2015-2018 I have maintained an active interest in the global infection prevention community. Additionally, I am a frequent contributor to relevant social media platforms including twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Pinterest. I use those forums to promote and educate clinicians and the public regarding infection control. In 2016 I was accepted and contributed to ACIPC member education as a marker for ACIPC s inaugural certification course. Although this was a remunerated position I considered it a privilege and a value opportunity to contribute to the national profession. Similarly, I have also been an examiner for the University of Queensland and have examined PhD thesis in that role during the last three years.
