Scholarship Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. is a service organization of predominately African American college educated women. The Sorority was founded on the campus of Howard University in 1913 located in Washington D.C. The was chartered in 1933. Myra Davis Hemmings was the first president and one of the Founders of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The activities of the chapter are based upon our National Five Point Thrust: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness & Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness & Involvement. Zeta Upsilon City Wide Chapter was established in 1969 under the sponsorship of the. The following six universities make up the City Wide chapter: University of Texas at San Antonio, Trinity University, Our Lady of the Lake University, The University of Incarnate Word, Texas Lutheran University, and St. Mary s University San Antonio. San Antonio Alumnae Chapter is still currently serving in an advisory capacity to the Zeta Upsilon City Wide Chapter. CRITERIA The $1,000 Delta Scholarship will be awarded to an African American female applicant who meets the following: 1. A graduating high school senior with a grade point average of 2.5 (4.00 point. grading system), 1.5 (3.00 point grading system), or a 75 grade point average or above. 2. Excels academically and display leadership abilities in the classroom and community. 3. Provides proof of high school enrollment in the fall and/or spring sessions. (All applicants must reside in and attend schools within the Bexar County school districts).
