International Nurse s week Celebration Apollo Hospitals Dhaka 13 th 16 th May 2013 Day 1 Inauguration and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Nursing Service Department of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka lead by Major Ranjana Rajender Williams (Retd.) Chief Nursing Officer, commemorated the Celebration of International Nurses Day with a long week celebration. The event was graced by the presence of our Honorable Chairman, Mr. Bob W. Kundanmal, Managing Director Mr. Khondoker Monir Uddin, Directors Mr. Mohammad A. Moyeen and Mr. Nissanka Bandra Weerasekera, Mr. Ranjan De Silva, Director for Strategy and Execution, Mr Sarath N Jayasinghe Director HR, Mr Mukesh Rai, Director Finance and our respected Consultants and Senior Leaders. The celebration officiated at the atrium amongst a thronging gathering with traditional gesture of cutting the ribbon by our Honorable Chairman Mr. Bob W. Kundanmal followed by releasing the festoon in to the blue sky by our Managing Director Mr. Khondoker Monir Uddin and Director Mr. Nissanka Bandra Weerasekera. Lamp Lightning Ceremony Speech by Honorable Director Mr. Mohammad A. Moyeen A short program at the Auditorium started with the traditional Lamp Lightning Ceremony followed by recitation of Nightingale pledge, Nursing departmental presentation by Chief Nursing Officer and speech by Honorable Director Mr. Moyeen, Director Strategy Execution Mr. Ranjan De Silva and Dr. Tareak Al Nasir. The theme of the International Nurses day celebration was unfolded by Ms Uma Sutradhar giving emphasis on Millennium development Goals 4 Reduce Child s Mortality, 5 Improve Maternal Health and 6 Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other Diseases. Day 2 Community Outreach Program As part of our commitment of Touching Lives, AHD Nursing Services did the Community Outreach program by their visit to Soilmail, Vatera Dhaka and delivered a Health Talk on 3 target Goals for community awareness.
Poster Competition In this competition, the participants had to show their understanding of the 3 goals through drawings. This event was graced by Dr. Simeen, DGM Quality, Mr. Mukul, DGM Bio - Medical and Dr. Farah Noor, DGM Medical Services Contest on Effective CPR This contest was conceptualized to determine the readiness and evaluate the understanding on the immediate resuscitation of a patient in an emergency situation. This event was judged by Dr. Lutful Aziz, Senior Consultant - Anesthesia and our ACLS Instructors
Day 3 Nurse s Health day Each Nurse of AHD provides unconditional care to our patients therefore giving them a day to think of their own health was important to boost their morale and give them a feel that AHD not only cares for patients but also for our Nurses. In this day, an enlightening talk on Nurse s Health, diet and on handling stress was delivered by DSE Mr Ranjan De Silva and CNO Major Ranjana Contest on Innovative Pictures on AHD Values In this contest participants tried to portrait their understanding about our AHD Values by clicking pictures. This contest was judged by our Senior leaders and results declared by Director HR, Mr. Sarath N Jayasinghe U Urgency of Work I Integrity and Honesty

Day 4 Leaders Today The Second Line Nurse leaders took over all the responsibilities of Charge Nurse for one day and acted as the Sister In Charge of their own area whereas the Charge Nurses took patient assignment and gave direct care to the patients. This activity was aimed to develop the second lines in all the areas and to enhance their confidence as a leader.

The long week celebration of International Nurse s Day ended with a blast of dance, songs and laughter and a promise in our hearts that we have a commitment towards our patients and the organization.
