Statements & Search Criteria Mission Empower individuals spiritually, physically and mentally to live self-sustaining, productive lives through education and training. Background Heart of Love was founded by Kattie Howell because of working with the homeless,ex offenders and their families. The mission is to provide job readiness training and spiritual guidance to help individuals become gainfully employed, live self sustaining, productive lives in the community. We started teaching in apartment complexes and the correctional facilities. Heart of Love is unique in that our clients not only receive job training,but food, clothing and emergency shelter if needed. Heart of Love is not limited to the walls of the center; we teach at Shelby County Jails East and where there is a need for our services. Impact Accomplishments from past year: Moved into Physical location 226 W Brooks from rented space. Partnership with Shelby Correctional Facility to teach Job Readiness. Established Emergency Shelter for Women Goals for Current Year Partner with Mid South Literacy for Adult Reading Program on site at Heart of Love Acquire building for career and training center for Youth and Young adults Create Staffing Agency to connect Employer to individuals in low income areas. Needs Heart of Love has a Youth Program called CEO of Walker Homes on site at Mitchell Community Center. Our number one need is to expand this program to include a career center to provide on the job training. 1. Capacity- building 2. $10,000 to purchase equipment and stipend for participants. 3. Volunteers to teach 4. Transportation 5. Marketing CEO/Executive Director Statement One of the disciples asked Jesus if he could physically touch him before he would believe. I believe that the actions of love and kindness will touch the lives of people and they will start to believe that they too can have a great, happy and productive life in spite of their present condition.
