Memorandum 200-2 Installation Environmental Policy SUMMARY of CHANGE This Revision Non-Technical Revision Change from regulation to memorandum Update references Revision October 2012 This revision changes the Garrison Commander s signature. Revision February 2012 Non-Technical Revision Revised Environmental Policy to delete reference to the Mobilization Mission. Revised Environmental Policy to clarify the environmental planning process. Revision May 2010 Non-Technical Revision All references to Directorate of Support Services were changed to Directorate of Public Works. Revision July 2005 Revised Environmental Policy to include Affirmative Procurement procedures. Revised per new requirements established within the ISO14001-2004 environmental standard.

This is the sixth printing of this memorandum. SUMMARY. This memorandum provides the Fort McCoy Installation Commander s policy on the environment. APPLICABILITY. This memorandum applies to all Fort McCoy garrison and tenant activities. PROPONENT EXCEPTION AUTHORITY. The proponent of this memorandum is the Directorate of Public Works, Fort McCoy. SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS. Users are invited to send comments and suggested improvements on a DA Form 2028 (Recommended Changes to Publications and Blank Forms) to: Directorate of Public Works (IMMC-PWE-C), 2171 S. 8 th Ave, Fort McCoy, WI 54656-5132. Interim changes to this memorandum are not official unless they are authenticated by the Publications Manager, Directorate of Human Resources. DISTRIBUTION STATEMENT. This memorandum is approved for public release; distribution is unlimited. 1. Fort McCoy s training mission is dependent on a high quality environment and natural resources. It is the responsibility of everyone who works and trains on Fort McCoy to first and foremost successfully complete our missions, but at the same time maintain a healthy environment that will support today s and tomorrow s Soldier. 2. In accomplishing our missions, it is Fort McCoy s policy to: a. Foster the wise stewardship of our natural resources which will support and sustain: (1) A realistic training environment. (2) A productive operational base. (3) The biological diversity of the land. (4) When practical, commercial and recreational opportunities. b. Make environmental compliance and pollution prevention an integral part of our operational processes. c. Procure, when practical, environmentally-preferable and energy-efficient products and products made from recycled materials. d. Identify environmental requirements early in the planning process that might impede construction projects or training activities. e. Establish and document realistic environmental objectives and targets and maintain programs for their accomplishment. f. Measure the effectiveness of our environmental management system and be dedicated to continuous improvement and re-engineering principles. 3.
