Minnesota Lace Society August 2018 Meeting: August 13 th at 6:45pm Location: South Haven Apartments Program: no program Summer Meetings: Summer meetings will be held the 2 nd Monday of the month at 6:45 in the community room of South Haven Apartments. The address is 3400 Parklawn Avenue, Edina 55435. You will need to buzz our member, Angela Stalheim, in apartment 711 for door opening. There is a kitchenette, the room is attached to a patio, and there is a grill available if you want to bring something to make for yourself for dinner, or something to share, it's fine, but not required. There will be no business at the summer meetings, so please bring projects to work on. Membership Renewal- Membership dues are payable in September for 2018-19. Dues are $25.00 or $5.00 for a young lace maker. Attached is a membership form. This form needs to be filled out each year so that we have current contact information. An updated roster will be sent out with the September newsletter. North Star Farm Tour- northstarfarmtour.com The members of the North Star Farm Tour will be holding their annual self-tour weekend event on 11 family owned farms all within an hour of the Twin Cities, Saturday and Sunday, September 29 & 30, 2018, 10 am to 5 pm. Member farms are looking to partner with individual artists or guilds to provide fiber demonstrations ranging from spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting to finished items. If your guild or individual fiber artists would be interested in participating, please respond with your contact information (name, email, phone and demo you would offer) to me, Sharon Mulhollam, at smulhollam@textilecentermn.org, by Monday, July 30, 2018. See the above web site for information on each farm participating in the tour, a map and other information about the weekend. Minnesota State Fair Demonstrations- The State Fair will be starting soon. If you can, plan on demonstrating. Demonstration hours- Make sure you let Pam Tucker know the number of volunteer hours you do. This also includes preparation and driving to the events you demonstrate at. These hours help keep the IOLI s nonprofit status. Hours that should be included travel time, preparation time, time spent for officer duties Art at St Kate s Volunteers- Thanks everyone who volunteered on Saturday at St Kate s. it was a beautiful day and a nice crowd of people visiting our tent! 1

Ladyslipper Winter Retreat 2019- There has been some interest in extending the length of the retreat. We have done some research and would like to plan a retreat that would be of the most interest to the majority of participants. A Survey to be sent out. Please respond expressing your preferences. Your response will show how many people would actually be interested in staying a full week. Ironwood Springs requires minimum numbers per their contract requirements, this survey will help determine if there is enough interest to offer an extended retreat. Your response is important in getting a say in what will be offered for the 2019 Winter Retreat. Heritage Lacemakers, Fergus Falls MN- The Heritage Lacemakers are celebrating their 20 th anniversary this year. Lynn Fumuso sent a congratulations card on behalf of the MN Lace Society. This is the response- Howdy!! Thanks to you and the Minnesota Lace Society for the lovely and thoughtful card!! It s hard to believe we ve been together for 20 years already. It is such a blessing to get together with other enthusiasts and foster the making of lace. Thanks, again, and greetings to all in your group.
