By creating strategic tools and nurturing key partnerships, the Executive Committee will elevate the role and value of the Alumni Board in the community and support the institution as a whole.

Govern the calendar and make it a practical and informative tool.(promote the board s events, manage internal needs and build strong awareness within MCAD s community-atlarge) Support the planning, design and objectives for the Reunion. Build buzz Facilitate communication and create opportunities for collaboration between committees. Plan team-building events like Holiday party and End-of-year BBQ party Cultivate pool of volunteers Support the goals of each committee by integrating them into one guiding document. Create easy to understand overview of the board that can be used to promote the board s role and activities(defined governance structure that includes: board purpose, vision, mission, goals and positioning) Work with Governance Committee Develop Communications Strategy to promote the board s activities and value. Work with Communications Committee and MCAD s Communications Office Create reports for the Board of Trustees. Develop strategies to keep calendar current across all committees. Provide support and guidance to chairs. Designate key events and encourage full board participation. Utilize as a key part of the Strategic Plan and Communications Plan. Communicate any updates and needs for approvals with the board. Support the efforts of the event via the activities of each committee.

GOVERNANCE FUNDRAISING Ed Charbonneau 06 (Committee Chair) Janet Groenert 79 Amelia Clabots 02 PURPOSE STATEMENT The Governance & Fundraising committee works to further the long term impact of the MCAD Alumni Board through two main areas: Internal Board Governance Creating a structure and guidelines for the alumni board to follow will help with growth and the ability to manage transition in a positive and constructive way. Fundraising is crucial to the future success of MCAD and its students. This committee focuses on building real impact to support the institution via engaged, committed and generous alumni community.

Governance & Fundraising Committee Goals & Objectives 10.07.13 TASK / SUBJECT AUDIENCE GOAL OBJECTIVES FUNDRAISING PRIMARY: Alumni SECONDARY: Board of Alumni Increase alumni participation in giving: Add 10+ people to 500 Club. Increase total alumni giving from 6% to 8% Brand the 500 Club Promote the 500 Club @ Art Sale, Mix & Match & Reunion. Explore starting Alumni Board Fund/ Scholarship/Award to support students and be used as fundraising tool Phone-a-tone write alumni-specific script asking for one time $42 donation or join the 500 club by donating $42 x 12 = $500 Continue the $30 support-a-student welcome packages GOVERNANCE PRIMARY: Board of Alumni SECONDARY: Board of Trustees MCAD Leadership Faculty Alumni Community Increase alumni participation in the Alumni Association: Define the board committees and how alumni who are not on the board can play an active role in these committees without joining the board. Promote the board externally and internally Create a system to measure volunteer hours Create tangible board gifts and promo pieces Work with Communications committee on representing the board in the newsletter REUNION GENERAL: Alumni Faculty School Leadership & Board of Trustees Support the planning, design and objectives for the Reunion. Gatherings are intended to help alumni re-connect with the institution, build relationships, social and professional networks with other alumni and increase board visibility. The Gatherings Committee recognizes that these events often can be an individual s first reconnection with other alumni and therefore the efforts of this committee need to be wellintegrated with the work of all the entire board.

Gatherings Committee Goals & Objectives 10.07.13 TASK / SUBJECT AUDIENCE GOAL OBJECTIVES ENGAGEMENT PRIMARY: Alumni SECONDARY: Board of Alumni Encourage events participation from Board members, Alumni, Board of Trustees, and current students. Encourage engagement with the arts and education community at large (external audience) Creative Women s Gatherings (5) Workshops for alumni & students (2) Collab-Crits Alumni Happy Hours (after key events) Serve students with Snack-Cart (2) Document (photograph, video and scribe) all events and organize documentation to the Communications Committee HELLO MCAD PRIMARY: Alumni outside of MN Work with the institutional leadership to create engagement opportunities with alumni outside of MN Help top 10 cities to organize Happy Hours outside of MN Explore opportunities and identify individuals to lead regional chapters VOLUNTEERS WANTED PRIMARY: Board of Alumni Alumni Build engaged volunteer body of supporters for various events Recruit alumni volunteers for key events Create a list of dedicated volunteers Work with Communications committee to promote volunteer opportunities in the newsletter Take attendance and gather new emails at events ACTIVATE THE CALENDAR PRIMARY: Board of Alumni Manage the events calendar on Basecamp Update and manage the Basecamp events calendar Clearly mark event names and needs for participation, promotion and volunteers REUNION GENERAL: Alumni Support the promotion of the Reunion via all events. Create a one-sheet promo piece that can be distributed at events with key dates and opportunities

MENTORSHIP Alison Malone, Mix-N-Match Co-Leader Antonia Maistrova, Branding/Design Julie Sirek, Mix-N-Match Co-Leader Kerri Jamison, Committee Chair Steve Kloyda, Mentor Lunch Series Lead PURPOSE STATEMENT The Mentorship Committee serves as a catalyst to connect students with alumni who lead creative and inspiring lives. Through productive partnerships the committee will help cross-pollinate offerings, share findings, and guide students in their search for a meaningful mentor relationship.

Mentorship Committee Goals & Objectives 10.07.13 TASK / SUBJECT AUDIENCE GOAL OBJECTIVES FEED YOUR FUTURE ALUMNI MENTOR LUNCH SERIES PRIMARY: Alumni Students SECONDARY: Board of Alumni Create new opportunities to connect students with alumni. Build awareness for the Mentorship program via mini mentoring sessions. Facilitate 4 Alumni Mentor Lunch series (Fall) Engage with past and find new alumni participants Build participants list for Mix n Match Promote Mix-N-Match and other board events MIX-N-MATCH MENTORING PRIMARY: Alumni Students SECONDARY: Board of Trustees MCAD Leadership Faculty Design, manage and implement the 2 nd Mix-N- Match Mentorship Event Provide students direct access to professionals to answer questions and support career development Design promotion and work with Communications Committee on marketing strategy Create/evolve new event rules and structure Recruit volunteers and students Evaluate faculty participation Design and manage space Gather event information and stats to include in the board s end-of-year report Identify/include donation opportunity Registration station for the Reunion Plan and organize documentation of event (video, photography, etc.) ASK-AN- ALUMNI BOX PRIMARY: Students Engage with students by providing them with a tool to ask questions Install a physical box on a pedestal with mentorship branding on it located at the College Center. Provide instructions to direct/inspire students to leave a question or to tweet a question to a specific hashtag that is also connected to FB.

COMMUNICATIONS Justin Clifton 00 (Committee Co-Chair) Nick Dahl 10 (Committee Co-Chair) Katrin Loss 00 Mindy Knoll 00 PURPOSE STATEMENT The Communications Committee works to engage and communicate with the alumni community in a meaningful and consistent way through various media and event opportunities. Our goals are focused on the promotion and marketing of the board s internal and external activities, as well as gather, create and distribute new and exciting content via the Alumni Newsletter that will inspire alumni to share and get involved.

Communications Committee Goals & Objectives 11.16.13 TASK / SUBJECT AUDIENCE GOAL OBJECTIVES ALUMNI NEWSLETTER PRIMARY: Alumni SECONDARY: Board of Alumni Continue to create an engaging, content rich and appealing Alumni Newsletter Increase subscriptions between 5% and 10% Create a calendar of events and content outline for newsletters and Tumblr Produce 6 alumni newsletters a year Update newsletter back-end design for better effectiveness in MailChimp Gather data on usage and engagement rates Create sections for each Committee to present activities and promote up-coming events INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS GUIDELINES PRIMARY: Board of Alumni SECONDARY: MCAD s Communications Office Design Works Improve internal communications logistics of the Alumni Board Create Communications Guidelines document and templates for internal board use Establish better processes for our online communication and tools that include document naming, tagging, labeling etc. Create a formal partnership process with the MCAD Communications Office and Design Works. Improve documentation of alumni events (i.e. photography, video, etc.) both locally and around the country. COMMUNICATION STRATEGY PRIMARY: Board of Alumni Develop Marketing & Communications Strategy Plan for the next 2 years Increase and improve Social Media usage of the Alumni Office Create content development plan that can be owned and supported by the entire board Expand web presence, including accuracy and more effective pages on mcad.edu, social media, and new promotional avenues. Produce a year-in-review video and distribute among the alumni community Develop and establish documentation practices and templates Identify and utilize partnership opportunities with MCAD s Communications and Web Communications Offices.

REUNION AD HOC Julie Sirek 10 (Committee Chair) Brian Gioielli more to come PURPOSE STATEMENT The MCAD Alumni Association All-Class Reunion will take place every other year. Its purpose is to provide an opportunity for MCAD alumni to gather, celebrate, and engage. Through this we aim to inform the alumni community about current initiatives and priorities of the college and also to ask them to become involved either as a volunteer, donor, or advocate.

Reunion Ad Hoc Committee Goals & Objectives 10.07.13 TASK / SUBJECT AUDIENCE GOAL OBJECTIVES INVITE & PARTY PRIMARY: Alumni Community Board of Alumni Increase attendance to 500 by 2015 2011-150 attended 2013 - Goal of 300 2015 - Goal of 500 MAKE IT MEMORABLE PRIMARY: Alumni SECONDARY: Faculty & Staff MCAD Leadership Provide opportunities for MCAD alumni to engage and connect with each other and with MCAD. Develop Reunion programming with faculty, staff and board Design alumni led sessions Create more ways to make it easy to attend; find places to stay, programming for kids, etc. Include overview and information about current MCAD priorities and initiatives Build a list of volunteers to support and manage events Create Social Media presence prior and during event Create documentation channels during the event (video, photography, interviews, surveys) Present Faculty & Staff highlights Present Student highlights (achievements) Determine and implement fundraising opportunities SET EXPECTATIONS & GET RESULTS PRIMARY: Ad Hoc Committee Board of Alumni Alumni Office Create paths to manage expectations and results Gather information to create a report and identify key success stories for next Reunion Continue to produce an MCAD Alumni All- Class reunion every 2 years.

Alumni Office/ Brian Gioielli Goals & Objectives 10.07.13 TASK / SUBJECT AUDIENCE GOAL OBJECTIVES PARTNERSHIPS PRIMARY: Institutional Leadership Staff & Faculty Board of Trustees SECONDARY: Board of Alumni Increase strategic partnerships Facilitating meetings between alumni board members and key MCAD staff and faculty Seek opportunities for interaction/engagement of alumni board members and staff/faculty through events and key initiatives Provide reports to the various groups in the target audience and identify new areas for partnerships PROMOTION PRIMARY: Institutional Leadership Staff & Faculty Board of Trustees Students Alumni Raise Visibility Start emailing out an all staff/faculty update about alumni board activities each month via email. Attend Student Union meetings and provide updates about alumni board activities. Look for more ways to raise visibility of alumni board efforts/activities. Generate excitement within the board about alumni board efforts/activities. SUPPORT PRIMARY: Board of Alumni Provide support Assist Alumni Board officers in all possible ways Invite alumni to participate in board activities ALUMNI GIVING PRIMARY: Board of Alumni Alumni Engage alumni in giving opportunities Work with the alumni board as part of the MCAD development staff in reaching 10 percent alumni giving by June 2015. Work with the alumni board on achieving 100 percent alumni board giving as outlined in the 2012 board approved governance guidelines. REUNION GENERAL: Alumni Create, manage and implement a successful Reunion event Serve as the lead for planning the June 2014 reunion event Work with an Ad-Hoc Committee to assure success
