WCHS Adult Tiger Club, Inc. Scholarship Guidelines Purpose The purpose of the WCHS Adult Tiger Club, Inc. scholarship is to recognize WCHS varsity athletes who have excelled in their athletic endeavors during their career at WCHS. Selection Committee A scholarship selection committee will consist of four members (one third) of the board of directors. Committee members will be appointed by the President of the Board of Directors. Application Applications will be made available in the WCHS Guidance Office. To be considered for a scholarship, the completed form must be returned to the Guidance Office by April 1st, of the student athlete s senior year. Eligibility Any student athlete who has been a member of an IHSAA recognized varsity sport offered at WCHS, and/or member of the cheerleading squad, and/or participated as a student trainer are eligible to apply. If a student athlete is the child of a WCHS Adult Tiger Club Inc., Board of Directors, that child will be given the same consideration as other applications. There is no guarantee they would be selected to receive a scholarship. Term of Scholarship The scholarship is a one time, flat $300.00, for each student athlete recipient. Number of Scholarships One scholarship will be awarded to a senior in each of the IHSAA recognized varsity sports offered at WCHS, as well as a senior cheerleader and a senior trainer. If there are no seniors involved in a sport, then no scholarship will be given in that sport for that year. Use of Scholarship The student athlete awarded a scholarship is required to attend an accredited college, university or trade school. If not, her/she will forfeit the scholarship.
Selection Criteria As the scholarship is in recognition of the student athlete s participation in interscholastic sports, the main consideration will be at the varsity level competition. The selection committee s criteria will include, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Senior: Applicant must be a senior and graduate from WCHS. 2. Varsity Competition: This is the highest level of priority in making a selection in any of the scholarships. Consideration is based on the number of varsity letters earned. 3. Honors Received: These will include, but are not limited to, MVP, MIP, All-Area, All- Conference or All-State type honors. 4. Junior Varsity Competition: Consideration will be given for junior varsity letters earned. 5. Athletic Code Violations: Any athlete that has been suspended form interscholastic competition for any two (2) violations of Group A, or any (1) violation of Group B according to the athletic code of conduct will be ineligible for consideration. 6. Class Standing/GPA: If two or more candidates have like qualifications, the selection committee will consider each candidates academic standing. 7. Extracurricular Activities: Consideration will be given to the amount of time and effort a student athlete has been to areas outside of athletics.
