Course Information Qualification CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support In this qualification you will have the opportunity to learn how to: work in a community or residential setting provide person-centred support to a person who is ageing or has a disability use your discretion and judgement take responsibility for your own work This qualification is suitable for existing workers and new entrants to the aged care, disability or home and community workforce. It also applies to those in the sector who want to upskill, those returning to the workforce after a break, and trainees Number of units Duration Location Study options Workplace experience Qualification (General does not include specialisations) Specialisations 13 Units (7 core units, 6 elective units) This course is delivered over a period of 18 months. However, some students may take up to two years to complete. Students must attend Skills Workshops at Northam campus. This course is a blend of online learning and assessment, attendance at a Skills Workshop for each unit and at least 120 hours of direct support work in at least one aged care, disability or home and community service organisation. To achieve this qualification, you must complete at least 120 hours of direct support work in at least one aged care, home and community, disability or community service organisation. Certificate III in Individual Support You have a choice of 3 specialisations. CRTAFE entry requirements You must participate in a pre-enrolment induction with the lecturer (face to face or phone) prior to enrolment. You must complete the Client Profile and Learning Needs questionnaire. This is to determine your specific needs and to enable your lecturer to develop support strategies to assist you with your learning. Physical and Medical Fitness o Aged care work can be emotionally and physically challenging and will be very hands on. Textbooks and Learning Materials You will require an Aspire Learner Guide for each unit in this course. You may purchase a hard-copy or e-book from the Central Regional TAFE bookshop at the Northam campus or borrow a copy from the Northam campus library. Our library also has a wide range of written and electronic resources useful to your course. Other National Police Certificate You are required to hold a current National Police Certificate, gained no earlier than 3 months prior to going on work placement, and provide your lecturer with a photocopy. Applications can be made online at https://www.police.wa.gov.au/police-direct/national- Police-Certificates or from Australia Post outlets. As at January 2017 the fee for a National Police Certificate is $52.60. Working with Children Check Depending on the client base you will be working with (discuss with your lecturer) you may also need to have a Working with Children Check. Immunisation declaration Depending on the organisation you will be working for (discuss with your lecturer) you may be required to provide an immunisation declaration. Study options This course is a blend of online learning and assessment, attendance at a Skills Workshop for each unit and at least 120 hours of direct support work in at least one aged care, disability or home and community service organisation.
