1 6/23/16 We ve only recently received our 501c3 status. I wonder if this technicality may prevent us from applying. Any nonprofit in good standing with the IRS and doing business for two consecutive years or more is eligible to apply. The organization must be registered with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to 2 6/24/16 I was wondering if we could apply for us to continue a garden at our school and also could you provide me with additional ideas that are funded. We are an afterschool program at a school. Nonprofit with a 95% free and reduced lunch population. solicit funds. For more information click here. Any non-profit that meets the criteria outlined in the GII guidelines is welcomed to apply. For more information, go to http://www.cscpbc.org/greatideas. Through the Great Ideas Initiative (GII), CSC will consider a wide-range of programs, projects and ideas designed to improve the lives of children and families in our county. 3 6/27/16 We are a Florida domestic non for profit organization. Can we still qualify to apply for a grant without a 501 C-3 or 6? 4 6/28/16 We are indeed a 501c3 non profit yet we became a 501c3 in 2015. Although we received our 501c3 in 2015 we have been registered on Sunbiz as a nonprofit and operating since 2014. Do we still qualify for the Great Idea Initiative? 5 6/29/2016 Does the 501c3 organization need to have audited financials to apply for the Great Ideas Initiative. Funds are not limited to 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) organizations. Any nonprofit in good standing with the IRS and doing business for two consecutive years or more is eligible to apply. The organization must be registered with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to solicit funds. For more information click here. To be eligible, applicants must: 1. Be in good standing with the IRS, 2. Have been doing business as a nonprofit for 2 consecutive years or more, and 3. Be registered to solicit funds with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Item #s 1 and 3 have no specific time frame, but an applicant must meet those requirements as of the 7/28/16 deadline for submitting (and after to stay eligible). Item # 2 is the one that goes back into the past (at least two years, again from the 7/28/16 date of the submittal deadline). All applicants must be in good standing with the IRS (inclusive of meeting all IRS budgetary and reporting requirements) at time of application. 2016 Great Ideas Initiative Q&A 1

6 6/29/2016 Would a program that we have running now be eligible for this grant if we wanted to expand it? Applications for enhancement, expansion or continuation of pre-existing programs/projects not currently funded by CSC (except for Capital Improvement requests) may be submitted if the program/project is aligned 7 6/29/2016 There was a total of 33 questions posed at the Informational Session that occurred on June 29, 1-2 p.m., at Children s Services Council. 8 6/30/2016 What attachments should be included with the GII application and copy? with the eligible categories delineated in the Great Ideas Initiative Guidelines. Please click here for an answer to those (33) questions. http://cdn.trustedpartner.com/docs/library/childrensservicescouncil2011/gre at%20ideas%20initiative%20info%20session%206-29-2016.pdf Before submitting your application, be sure the following elements are included: Did you complete the application, check the correct category box and thoroughly answer all questions? Did you sign the acknowledgment/understanding of the Great Ideas Initiative Guidelines, including exceptions to funding? Is the application signed and dated by the organization s executive director or by another official/individual who is legally authorized to bind the organization to this application? If your organization is not currently funded by CSC, did you include your organization s Federal Employee Identification Number? For those applying for Capital Improvement funds, did you provide proof of match for any requested amount over $25,000? My organization s application does not exceed a total of 5 pages. 9 6/30/2016 Do we have to be a 501c3 to apply? Who can apply? Any nonprofit in good standing with the IRS and doing business for two consecutive years or more is eligible to apply. The organization must be registered with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to solicit funds. For more information click here. Organizations, such as faith-based and grass roots organizations, DO NOT need to currently be funded by CSC, except if applying for Capital Improvement funds. All funds awarded must be used for projects in Palm Beach County. Organizations can submit one application, in one category, per funding cycle. CSC does not guarantee funding. For those proposals we do fund, CSC does not guarantee funding the total requested amount. 2016 Great Ideas Initiative Q&A 2

10 6/30/2016 Is there any way that CSC would be willing to share the organizations and contact information for the agencies that are interested in applying for this funding (or who attended the information session)? This way we can identify opportunities for collaboration. 11 6/30/2016 We are interested in developing a curriculum to train therapists. Could the funding be used to pay for part of the salary of an employee at the agency to develop modules for this curriculum? 12 6/30/2016 Can a capital improvement grant be applied to a leased or rented space? A list of attendee organizations represented at the Information Session is available at the bottom of this Q&A. Please note, this may not be a comprehensive list of all organizations intending to apply for GII funding. (see pages below) Capacity Building: Organizations may need one-time funds to improve internal professional and/or business development. These funds would help strengthen organizations that are working to improve their community. Capital Improvements: CSC-funded organizations that provide services to children and families may need assistance to create an engaging, inviting atmosphere or improve space to better serve the community. These funds are available for one-time improvements to facilities for the use and/or enjoyment of participating children and families. Maximum grant award under this category is $50,000. Leased or rented space may be considered. 13 7/1/2016 Florence Fuller Child Development Centers provides Early Head Start services to the children in our programs. We receive this funding through Lutheran Services which receives funding from CSC. So, is Lutheran Services a designated Level 1 Lead Agency, and if so, do we qualify to apply for Capital Improvements funding? 14 7/1/2016 Our organization is not registered with The Department of Agriculture. Upon looking at the paperwork to register, it appears that we are not eligible because we earn more than $25,000. Is this correct? Will you please elaborate on the specifics of this process? Will we have enough time to register if in fact we are eligible? While Lutheran Services is directly funded by CSC, it is not a CSC designated Level 1 Lead Agency. All charitable organizations and sponsors must register with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) prior to engaging in solicitation activities in or from Florida, and renew annually thereafter on a form provided by the department. If you have any questions or need assistance in completing the FDACS registration application, please contact the department by calling 800-HELP-FLA (435-7352) inside Florida or (850) 410-3800 outside Florida. While it is not required to have the registration complete 2016 Great Ideas Initiative Q&A 3

at the time of the GII application, it will be required to be complete prior to the Notice of Intent to award funding. 15 7/1/2016 Would the grant include two small salaries? The Great Ideas Initiative is a one-time grant opportunity. If payment for labor is necessary to fulfill/complete the scope of work, then this may be considered an eligible expense. 16 7/6/2016 We provide children's academic & adult computer and literacy classes for the Haitian community in PBC. Would you consider funding of a 7-month computer networking class (July 2016 - Feb 2017), under the Capacity Building category for the primary teacher (volunteer)? He also maintaining the computer lab & the security for the computer lab? We would also like to include 5 new computers and funds for gas stipend for the volunteer teachers. 17 7/6/2016 I work at a university that is partnered with a community agency. Would a representative from the agency need to submit the grant application or could it be submitted through the university? 18 7/10/2016 Am I able to apply under a nonprofit Faith Based organization that can receive donations? My idea has been working for 14 years in Boca Raton under a church umbrella. Now we want to expand into Delray Beach to reach a diverse population and some high risk single moms and moms in recovery. The church would be the sponsoring nonprofit organization with my initiative called Nurturing Your Newborn Delray. 19 7/10/2016 We are applying for a 25,000 grant and a major part of it is about our after school. Our biggest need currently after two years of running a program daily for 40-50 children is staff. While Through the Great Ideas Initiative (GII), CSC will consider a wide-range of programs, projects and ideas designed to improve the lives of children and families in our county. Projects must be aligned with the eligible categories delineated in the Great Ideas Initiative Guidelines (GII). As long as either entity applying meets the eligibility requirements for the Great Ideas Initiative, either party can apply. If funds are awarded, they will go to the applicant organization. Organizations, such as faith-based and grass roots organizations, DO NOT need to currently be funded by CSC, except if applying for Capital Improvement funds. we obtain a number of volunteers we need mature dependable staff for the safety as well as our ability to reach our goal. My question is do the grants allow some of the money to go to staffing while we are trying to find a way of finding sustainable other sources that will cover the cost. 20 7/12/2016 This question is regarding question #3: Is your organization registered with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to solicit funds? It says to explain why if exempt. We are exempt because we are an education organization and I have a letter from them stating this. Can I still apply? families in our county. Projects must be aligned with the eligible categories delineated in the Great Ideas Initiative Guidelines (GII). Yes. If you are exempt, please indicate that you are and explain why. CSC will confirm with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. If you have any questions or need assistance in completing the FDACS registration application, please contact the department by calling 800-HELP-FLA (435-7352) inside Florida or (850) 410-3800 outside Florida. While it is not required to have the registration complete at the time of the GII application, it will be required to be complete prior to the Notice of Intent to award funding. 21 7/12/2016 Is the Great Ideas grant limited to agencies that serve children or can an agency that serves another population apply? 22 7/12/2016 When applying for a capital project, can the project incorporate some salary expense? For instance, let say there was funding for creating an exhibit, but the exhibit needs to be staffed. 23 7/13/2016 I see one of the components is that our church must be registered with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services solicitation of contributions and we currently are not. I spoke with them and they said we would be considered exempt since all of our revenue is from our members the/offerings. Should I go ahead and file anyway so that our chances of getting funding will not be affected or is that Through the Great Ideas Initiative (GII), CSC will consider a wide-range of programs, projects and ideas designed to improve the lives of children and families in our county. Projects must be aligned with the eligible categories delineated in the Great Ideas Initiative Guidelines (GII). The Great Ideas Initiative is a one-time grant opportunity. If you are exempt, please indicate so in Part II, Question 3 of the application and explain why. exemption valid and will not affect our chances of being funded? 24 7/14/2016 Our question concerns age limits for the Great Ideas Initiative. Our students at EdVenture Charter School range in age from 15-22 and are diagnosed with social and emotional mental illnesses. We have a great idea to help the student body and the school and are wondering if our entire school population is eligible for this grant from CSC. Nonprofit organizations interested in applying for this funding opportunity must submit an application that shows how the project would enhance the lives of Palm Beach County s children prenatal age 18 and their families. 25 7/15/2016 For the capital improvements category, can the funds be used for a capital investment in a community garden? For example, if awarded, use the funds to purchase items such as cedar beds, a wood shed, and benches. 26 7/18/2016 Will you fund counselors for mentoring program targeting minority males, field trips, snacks, t- shirts and program coordinator? Qualifying agencies may apply for capital improvement funds to assist in creating an engaging, inviting atmosphere or improve space to better serve Palm Beach County s children prenatal age 18, their families and community. The Great Ideas Initiative is a one-time grant opportunity and not intended to provide ongoing support for long-term positions or projects. If payment for labor is necessary to fulfill/complete the scope of work, then this may be considered an eligible expense. 2016 Great Ideas Initiative Q&A 6
