The International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) PROFESSIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The International College of Management (ICMS) developed a scholarship program 12 years ago to reward the most promising scholars based on their effort, dedication, attitude and aptitude, demonstrated business acumen and motivation. Touraust Corporation, the original founding organisation of ICMS, is also the original founding sponsor of the ICMS Professional Scholarship once known as the Touraust Scholarship. ICMS already sponsors undergraduate students for scholarships and now sponsors one scholarship up to four (4) subjects tuition fees in the third semester for a postgraduate student. Applications for this ICMS Postgraduate Scholarship are invited from students in the second semester of their Master degree at ICMS. Students must have completed four subjects in their first semester of the Masters with a minimum GPA of 3.75 out of 5.0 to be eligible. Students applying will have demonstrated consistency in academia, and excellence in innovation, professional performance, and overall contribution to ICMS. The ICMS Postgraduate Scholarship will be awarded upon the selection process implemented by the ICMS Scholarship Board. SELECTION PROCESS 1. COMPLETED APPLICATION FORM Email your submission to icmsscholarships@icms.edu.au (with PG Current Student in the email s subject line) with cover letter & essay attached. 2. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: a) ACADEMIC RECORD Applicants need to meet the ICMS entry requirements in academic ability and have gained a minimum GPA of 3.75 out of 5.0 in their 1 st semester of the Masters course to be eligible. Graduate Certificate 1 st semester students are not eligible to apply unless they have a package offer for Masters. b) ESSAY SUBMISSION - Innovation (Minimum 1000 words) Applicants should address the following questions within their essay: Your reasons for choosing ICMS, including the reasons you chose the program/specialisation Why are you the most appropriate student to be awarded this scholarship? Do you have innovative ideas in business that could assist in a Department at ICMS? Please provide details of how your ideas could be used in a department at ICMS or for the overall business. What type of position do you see yourself in upon completion of your ICMS Master degree? There will be a blind review by an expert on Innovation to assess your essay. c) COMMUNITY, LEADERSHIP AND STUDENT BODY CONTRIBUTIONS The applicant s community contributions form a vital part of their background and application for the ICMS Postgraduate Scholarship Program. Include all relevant information past and present. For example, details of place-holdings such as Student Representative Council, community volunteering, and other areas you have assisted in the Manly/ICMS community. Please mention this in your cover letter. 3. INTERVIEW STAGE Students who are successful with their essay and ICMS entry requirements will progress to the interview stage. The interview is conducted by the ICMS Scholarship board in late January 2017. Please make sure you are available for interview during this month. 4. ANNOUNCEMENT All applicants will be notified of the results by letter and/or email no later than the beginning of the first week of 3 rd semester of your Master degree. ACCEPTANCE PROCEDURE Upon notification of being awarded the ICMS Postgraduate Scholarship, the successful candidate is required to inform the College of acceptance or non-acceptance, in writing, within two (2) working days of receipt of notification. 3
TERMS AND CONDITIONS The recipient must be enrolled in an ICMS Master program, be currently enrolled in their 2 nd semester with a GPA of 3.75 out of 5.0 or higher from their completed first semester. Scholarship recipients are required to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75 out of 5.0 during the tenure of their scholarship. The ICMS Postgraduate Scholarship is non-transferable, unable to be extended (unless authorised prior by the ICMS selection panel) and should the recipient decide to cease the scholarship prior to completion then the total cost of all subjects undertaken (as at the cease date) must be refunded in full. An ICMS Postgraduate Scholarship may not be deferred. The recipient of the ICMS Postgraduate Scholarship agrees to abide by all prescribed rules and regulations of ICMS. Scholarship students are expected to maintain good to excellent overall professional conduct and act as ambassadors of the College at all times. The ICMS Postgraduate Scholarship encompasses the prescribed curriculum for the 3 rd semester of the Master degree program. If the recipient of the ICMS Postgraduate Scholarship is required to re-sit a subject, for whatever reason, he/she will be required to pay for that subject. The recipient of the ICMS Postgraduate Scholarship will be required to take on the role of Class Representative in the event that your group has not elected a Class Representative. Every effort will be made to appoint a suitable candidate for the Class Representative position and we suggest you nominate yourself. Activities of the scholarship holder may include: Representing the College at events and expos, VIP functions and visits Assisting at College events such as Graduation Day and Open Day Assisting the Pollard Resource Centre and Academic Support Centre Assisting with student events and functions Submissions to College publications Student Services activities Participation in community/charity work The ICMS Postgraduate Scholarship may be discontinued by ICMS, dependent upon timely review of academic standing, professional conduct and College/Community contribution and commitment to the ICMS work experience program (commitment hours). Scholarship recipients are required to allow the ICMS Marketing Department to take their photo and write a student profile about them for publications and website use. Recipients must also be willing to participate in future marketing activities. The Scholarship recipient must complete up to 100 hours of community contribution hours for the semester that the scholarship applies. This is usually completed 10 hour per week for 10 weeks, however this is subject to change. College fees are subject to change. The Scholarship Board s decision is final and reserves the right to terminate the Scholarship at any time for poor academic performance (see above), or inappropriate conduct (see ICMS Student Handbook) or failure to meet the requirements of the ICMS Postgraduate Scholarship. 4
