Conditions I am aware that the Swedish Arts Grants Committee s grants and allowances are for professionally active artists. I am not an undergraduate student at an artistic college. If I am awarded a grant, I pledge to utilise the grant/allowance in accordance with what I have stated in my application. Residency for ceramic artists at The Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen, China Iaspis the Swedish Arts Grants Committee s international program for visual art, architecture, design and craft announces a new residency collaboration with The Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen during 2014. Residency period: In 2014, two candidates are offered a residency of two months, from October 10 to December 4 Application deadline: April 29 Application procedure: The Iaspis delegation of the Visual Arts Fund selects a shortlist from the received applications. The final selection of grant holders is made by The Pottery Workshop. Grant: The total sum of the grant is 40 000 SEK per person and residency. This should cover costs for return travel Sweden-Jingdezhen, sustenance and eventual production costs over the 2 month residency. About The Pottery Workshop The Pottery Workshop is an international ceramics center focusing on the development and enrichment of ceramics in China and abroad. Located in the Porcelain Capital Jingdezhen, it is described as unique. The Pottery Workshop is surrounded by hundreds of small, independent craftsmen and artists. Clay producers, throwers, sculptors, mold makers, blue and white decorators, glaze shops, public kilns, brush 1 (3)
makers, blacksmiths, and box makers are only a sampling of the craftsmen working in the community. As part of the residency, The Pottery Workshop provides shared workspace where artists from different countries work with the help of bilingual assistants. Grantholders are provided with accommodation in single rooms and meals Monday-Saturday. More info: www.potteryworkshop.com Things to think about before you fill out the form The Visual Arts Fund s delegation for Iaspis will draw up a shortlist of candidates. The management of The Pottery Workshop will then make the final selection of the grant holders. You apply with your e legitimation (Swedish electronic identification) on www.konstnarsnamnden.se or on the appropriate paper form. Applications must be complete. The Swedish Arts Grants Committee will not accept complementary additions. Work samples Your application must include 5 10 work samples of representative works made in the last two years. If you apply digitally, upload your work samples at the end of the application process. For information about which file formats you can use and the dimensions of the work samples, please see www.konstnarsnamnden.se/arbetsprover. If you apply on paper format, your work samples must fit a standing A4 sheet (paper applications with work samples will be scanned and made available in digital format for the examiners). State year of production, title, technique and dimensions for each work. Please remember to write your name and national identification number on your appendices.
