Upon completion of litigation by attorneys, assists in the closing of cases to ensure that the litigation and program files are complete and reflect the appropriate disposition of the case Assures that litigation data are complete and updated Assembles all materials needed to enable Office of the General Counsel (OGC) attorneys to defend lawsuits Prepares packages for final review by attorneys, coordinates with proper agency personnel, and transmits final packages to DOJ, the US Courts, or the Departmental Appeals Board Responsible for copying and assembling documents to assist attorneys with discovery Carries out follow-up work work on cases, including responses to routine inquiries Assists in the maintenance of the OGC's Practice Manager System which is used to track all OGC-X litigation, correspondence, and personnel time Coordinates and tracks the status of cases at administrative tribunals in Federal court Identifies and alerts attorneys and clients of significant time constraints relating to pending request and imminent deadlines Maintains summaries of current reported cases, reports of significant pending cases, and other documents using information obtained from the staff, files, and other extensive network of legal reporting systems QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: GS-7: typically in or related to the work of this position to be filled to at least the GS-5 or GS-6 grade level in the Federal Government Specialized experience includes receiving visitors and telephone calls and determining appropriate action Maintaining case files, other required files, and records in a law office Providing legal assistance and secretarial support for one or more attorneys GS-8: typically in or related to the work of this position to be filled to at least the GS-6 or GS-7 grade level in the Federal Government
