Inland Seafarer 3 August, 2018 Edition News from National Membership thoughts: Did you know that new members are living in your neighborhood? Try mass mailing to various neighborhoods when you have a class coming up. One squadron did that for a seamanship class and gained four new members. R/C Robert Howd
Executive Officer P/C Steve Stuart AP Youth Day on Lake Norman, Saturday July 14, 2018, was conducted for the 19 th year. We first want to thank our multiple Sponsors, Davidson College, special Guests and Members. Special thanks to our D27 Commander Greg Shay and his wife Connie for attending, Kerry Gonzalez as our major Sponsor and her family for helping with food item deliveries and face painting during the day and Dick and Barb Todd for table and chair arrangements. We had the help of over 31 LNSPS members with 5 boats, 102 area Youth participated with associated six staff members and five Davidson college students serving as lifeguards and dock safety assistants. In -all totaling over 271 hours of member volunteer help in one of our biggest, civic events of the year. Beach swimming activities were well attended and supervised by lifeguards from Davidson College. Boating rides and rafting activities were conducted in a safe manner supervised by Dock Master Mark Epstein and Glenn DeTample as assistant. Davidson College students were assigned to check life jacket sizes and adjustments, supported boat arrivals and departures, and passenger safe loadings. Gifts, a big hit by all, were given by the Panthers Organization. Note that AMG Maritime Insurance, Panthers Organization, Publix and numerous other Sponsors have already pledged to support us next year when we again start our LNSPS Civic Event Sponsorship Program on February 1, 2019. Thanks again for all of the help from Sponsors, Members, Food Service organizations and Davidson College.
