INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE DIPLOMA Cardinal Newman was the FIRST Catholic high school in Florida to be granted the prestigious designation of IB World School by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The program has a reputation for rigorous assessment, giving IB diploma holders access to leading universities. CNHS has a remarkable success rate Far exceeding the local, national, and international averages! The IB Diploma program is a two-year comprehensive curriculum during the junior and senior years emphasizing: Critical thinking Intercultural understanding Exposure to a variety of points of view IB can teach you just as much about yourself as it does about the subjects you study. Learning to look at a topic from a global perspective rather than a local view is a daily challenge. Teachers continually remind us to challenge the facts and find the biases. Second Year IB Student R NO NEED TO RUSH YOUR DECISION! Students apply for acceptance to the CNHS IB Program in the fall of 10th grade, allowing the student to evaluate and understand their personal academic goals. (The IBO does not sanction any pre-ib program for grades ninth and tenth.) The IB Curriculum is outlined in the Curriculum Handbook at www.cardinalnewman.com
