In addition, payroll warrants and electronic transfers in the amount of $2,446,182.40 as well as canceled warrants, recalled and rejected electronic transfers, replacement checks, and non-warrant expenditures not previously submitted are presented for approval. SUPERINTENDENT S RECOMMENDATION: Warrants, electronic transfers, canceled warrants, recalled and rejected electronic transfers, replacement checks, and non-warrant expenditures be approved as submitted. 44B Executive Director of Schools - John Harrison Activities and Athletics Jeff Lowell Agenda Item #44B.1 Extended Field Trips CONSENT AGENDA Informational (no action required by the Board) Action Report (Board will be required to take action) For Action: 12.1.15 SUPERINTENDENT S RECOMMENDATION: Extended field trips listed in the Board Packet be approved with the understanding that amounts listed are maximum. 44B.1.1 All BSD High Schools to Tacoma & Olympia LEAP Conference 2016 A request has been received from Shomari Jones, a Director at Bellevue School District, to travel with approximately 30 Latino students from All Bellevue School District High Schools on February 4, 2016 to February 6, 2016 to Tacoma and Olympia, WA. The objective of this trip is to learn about government structured systems, colleges and connect with Latino leaders and students. Shomari Jones and 6 additional chaperones will be accompanying the students. The cost of this trip is approximately $11,580.00 which includes housing, transportation and registration. All costs to be paid by families and scholarships. 44B.1.2 International School Huntsville, AL A request has been received from Judy Temple, teacher at International School, to travel with approximately 24 students from International School on March 27, 2016 through April 1, 2016 to Huntsville, Alabama. The objective of this trip is for the STEM program and Vocational ideas in Space. Judy Temple and 2 additional chaperones will be accompanying the students. The cost of this trip is approximately $57,400.00 which includes housing, transportation and registration. All costs to be paid by families and scholarships. 10
44B.1.3 Chinook Middle School Peru A request has been received from Lindsey Herron, teacher at Chinook Middle School, to travel with approximately 10 students from Chinook Middle School during Mid-Winter Break in 2017 to Peru (Linda, Cuzco, and the Sacred Valley). The objective of this trip is participate in service learning and cultural linguistic immersion. Lindsey Herron and a ratio of 6:1 student to chaperone will be accompanying the students. The cost of this trip is approximately $38,498.00 which includes housing, transportation and registration. All costs to be paid by families and scholarships. 44B.1.4 Interlake Jazz Ensemble Reno A request has been received from David Kim, teacher at Interlake High School, to travel with approximately 20 students from Interlake High School on April 29, 2016 through May 1, 2016 to Reno, Nevada. The objective of this trip is participate and compete at the Reno Jazz Festival. David Kim and approximately 5 additional chaperones will be accompanying the students. The cost of this trip is approximately $17,578.00 which includes housing, transportation and registration. All costs to be paid by families and scholarships. 44B.1.5 Bellevue High School Baseball Fresno, CA A request has been received from Tate Seefried, Baseball coach at Bellevue High School, to travel with approximately 35 students from Bellevue High School on July 1, 2016 to July 4, 2016 to Fresno, California. The objective of this trip is to compete at a higher level. Tate Seefried and 2 additional chaperones will be accompanying the students. The cost of this trip is approximately $28,016.00 which includes housing, transportation and registration. All costs to be paid by families and scholarships. 11
44B.1.6 Odle Middle School to Japan A request has been received from Emily Evanson, Emily Elzea and Aaron Wood, teachers at Odle Middle School, to travel with approximately 15 students from Odle Middle School on March 31, 2016 through April 8, 2016 to Nagahama, Japan. The objective of this trip is for the Student Exchange program and Cultural Exposure. Emily Evanson, Emily Elzea and Aaron Wood will be accompanying the students. The cost of this trip is approximately $23,724.00 which includes housing, transportation and registration. All costs to be paid by families and scholarships. 44B.1.7 Tyee Middle School to Japan A request has been received from Cheryl Lee and James Burke, teachers at Tyee Middle School, to travel with approximately 15 Japanese Club students from Tyee Middle School on June 23, 2016 through July 3, 2016 to Japan. The objective of this trip is for cultural immersion and school visit. Cheryl Lee and James Burke and 1 additional chaperone will be accompanying the students. The cost of this trip is approximately $73,656.00 which includes housing, transportation and registration. All costs to be paid by families and scholarships. 12
