Emergency Preparedness Program Activities Pandemic Flu Response (such as H1N1) Medical Reserve Corps volunteers Medical Needs Shelter Planning Provide various preparedness education and training to community and staff Respiratory Protection Program (fit-testing for first responders)

Sussex/Warren Chronic Disease Coalition (formerly Sussex County Cancer Coalition) The Sussex Warren County Regional Chronic Disease Coalition is committed to maintaining a diverse partnership of community members and agencies. This Coalition will be dedicated to the implementation of evidence/practice based policy, environmental, and system change intervention for chronic disease prevention and control with a focus on cancer.

Office of Public Health Nursing: Hepatitis B Vaccination Clinic Flu, Pneumococcal, and Tetanus Vaccination Health Check Clinic Well Baby Clinic School Immunization Audits Communicable Disease Control Take it to the Streets Community Education Blood Pressure Screenings Male & Female Cancer Screening Skin Cancer Screening SMA Blood Screening Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program

Public Health Nursing Activities Clinics available to all residents. A. Flu, Pneumonia, and Tetanus vaccine clinics in the Fall of each year open to all residents. Rotate sites for the flu clinics and would be able to have a clinic in Byram next year if they could handle a large group of people (250-350 people). B. Health Check clinics for adults and school aged children to receive vaccines for low cost or free (depending on income). Can also receive blood pressure checks free of charge.

Public Health Nursing Activities Clinics available to residents with low income or no insurance. A. NJCEED clinics for cancer screening B. Well-Baby clinics for exams and immunizations for children birth through 5 years old C. Skin Cancer screening clinics D. Chem 18 blood screening clinics

Public Health Nursing Activities Public Health Nurses began using SKYPE virtual methods for conducting Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) DOT observation of medication compliance for persons diagnosed with confirmed or suspected active tuberculosis until their treatment is completed

Special Child Health Services Case Management For any family in Sussex County who has a child under the age of 22 with special health needs. Conduct assessment of the family's and child's needs Kathleen Baklarz, RN, BSN Unit Coordinator Special Child Health Services

Special Child Health Services Activities Case managers assist with obtaining: Hearing aids and orthotics Payment of catastrophic bills Support groups Information on new programs and seminars for parents Home nursing care Family support programs such as respite Advocacy Referrals to programs such as WIC (Women, Infant and Children Supplemental Nutrition), heating assistance, DDD (Division of Developmental Disabilities), and the Board of Social Services Insurance issues Transition to adulthood services Emotional support for parents/guardians

Mosquito Control Services Surveillance Education Source Reduction Biological Control

Mosquito Control Services Activities Uses an Integrated Pest Management approach to controlling mosquitoes. Source reduction, or the elimination of larval habitat Fish Program - specific breeds of fish are stocked in breeding sites to provide 24 hour larval control. Biorational larvicides Truck-mounted sprayer Airspray Program

Weights and Measures: Working to protect both the consumer and the business At least once a year, inspectors check every weighing and measuring device used in commercial transactions that measure length, time or amount.
