is October 23 rd -27 th! The week we return from fall break, Heritage will celebrate being DRUG FREE! All week students will be encouraged to bring in their loose change for United Way and wear themed items each day to promote being drug free! The class in each grade who donates the most will receive a prize from PTO. Monday, October 23 rd Kickoff to Red Ribbon Week -Wear Red! Tuesday, October 24 th Join the Fight Against Drugs -Wear Camo! Wednesday, October 25 th Don t Get Tied Up in Drugs! -Wear a tie or a hair tie Thursday, October 26 th Hats Off to Being Drug Free! Wear a Hat! Friday, October 27 th Team Up Against Drugs! Wear TEAM COLORS/ATTIRE! POSTER CONTEST: If students want to participate in a poster contest they can work on posters at home using a Respect Yourself, Be Drug Free theme. Posters will be displayed and need to be submitted by Wednesday, October 25 th. The top 5 posters will receive a Red Ribbon Week prize.

All proceeds from the supper are going towards our ultimate goal of an awning for the car rider line. Bowl of chili- $2 Hot dog- $1.50 Nachos with cheese sauce- $2 BAKING FOR BURTON at Gushy Guts Chips- $2 Bottled Water-$1 All About That Bounce will have a blow up slide available for unlimited slides for $2! All proceeds from the slide go to Burton! One of our Eagles was diagnosed with a brain tumor in August of this year. Heritage Elementary will be holding a bake sale in honor of Burton Cobb at Gushy Guts. All proceeds will help with the costs of medical expenses. Join the Baby Eagles Club! Send in a picture of your child who is 4 years old and under for our Baby Eagles Club bulliten board and you will receive a free children s book!
We need volunteers!!! All volunteers are required to fill out a volunteer application each school year and complete a refresher training! If you are a new volunteer, you will need to turn in an application for us to complete your background check. You will then need complete the volunteer training process. Second Annual Trunk or Treat! When and Where: October 25th Martha Layne Collins High school from 6-8 for a fun, safe, candy and games filled night! Wear your best Halloween costume! The fun is in the bus parking lot in the back of Martha Layne Collins High School. Signs will be posted around to show you the way to the back bus parking lot. Heritage Elementary Family Resource Center Melanie Murphy, Coordinator Phone number: (502) 829-5242 Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., available evenings and weekends by appointment.
Services Provided by the Family Resource Center: Referral information - Referrals are based on individual need for basic needs, information for families with children birth to 5, education and community programs. Family Fun/Involvement - Fun programs designed to encourage family involvement in student success. These events may be supported by Family Resource or in collaboration with other school (Title I) or community programs. Educational support - Support provided based upon needs of students and referrals can be made by teachers, school staff or parents. Health Services -Referrals to programs to support the physical and mental health of students. In collaboration with community agencies, offer screenings as available. Volunteer Opportunities/Community Involvement The center coordinator seeks opportunities for parents and community to be involved in the school. The coordinator serves as volunteer coordinator for Heritage Elementary; providing opportunities for volunteers who current approved background check on file and have completed the orientation process.
