PATIENT INFORMATION

Our aim is to provide outstanding private healthcare in a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment. Andrew Davey, Hospital Director WELCOME TO CLAREMONT PRIVATE HOSPITAL Claremont Private Hospital has been at the heart of the South Yorkshire community providing first class healthcare for 60 years. Our hospital is situated in acres of beautifully landscaped grounds in Crosspool, South West Sheffield and patients can enjoy a peaceful stay, easy access to their consultant, nursing care which is second to none and panoramic views from our modern and comfortable patient bedrooms, most of which are en-suite. We have over 280 highly experienced NHS consultants practising privately at Claremont supported by a team of more than 150 hospital staff. We pride ourselves on our excellent cleanliness and hygiene standards and have no known cases of hospital acquired infections such as MRSA. Since Aspen Healthcare bought Claremont in December 2011, over 1.5M has already been invested with more investment to follow over the next 5 years. With our historic reputation for clinical excellence and our huge variety of private services with minimal waiting times, we are delighted to welcome you to Claremont Private Hospital. Our aim is to be your first choice for private healthcare in Sheffield. With my very best wishes. Andrew Davey Hospital Director

OUR STORY SO FAR Claremont Private Hospital was set up by the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, a religious institute located in Ireland in 1831, moving to Sheffield in 1883. The original hospital was opened in 1921 and was situated close to the city centre on Claremont Place, a site where the Royal Hallamshire Hospital now stands. In 1953, Claremont Private Hospital moved to its present location in Crosspool, South West Sheffield. Today, now part of the Aspen Healthcare Group, we are a successful private hospital encompassing most medical specialties as well as diagnostic imaging, physiotherapy, onsite pathology and pharmacy. We work hard to protect our reputation for excellence and enjoy local relationships with Sheffieldbased companies, providing all manner of healthcare services. Claremont Private Hospital welcomes patients from all health insurers including AXA PPP, or self-funding patients. Some NHS services are also available, please speak to your GP for more information. We are registered to see children from the age of 4 years and upwards for consultations (outpatients) and 16 years and upwards for surgery (inpatients).

OUR COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE WE PUT OUR PATIENTS FIRST, EVERY TIME Our mission is to provide first-class independent healthcare for the local community in a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment; one in which we would be happy to treat our own families. CONSULTANTS CHOOSE TO WORK AT CLAREMONT We strive to attract and retain the best consultants in Sheffield. All 280 of our experts hold substantive NHS consultant posts practising privately in addition to these, giving you the reassurance that you re in the best possible hands. A TEAM WITH ONE GOAL.EXCELLENCE We recognise that every member of staff plays a key role in achieving this aim and we all endeavour to go the extra mile for our patients. We choose customer orientated staff through robust recruitment processes, induction, training and feedback.

It s not all about nursing care while you re in hospital. Getting the right balance of nutrition, portion size and a little of what you fancy are also vital for a faster, healthier recovery. NUTRITION PLAYS A KEY ROLE IN RECOVERY. MEET OUR HEAD CHEF MARK MORTIMER Claremont s Head Chef Mark Mortimer is no stranger to creativity with food. Having previously overseen corporate dining for acts and events including Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the Liberal Democrat Party Conference, pre-show banquets for the Rolling Stones, Sheffield Wednesday Football Club and the X Factor Tour, Mark is now relishing the challenge of promoting better recovery following surgery using nutrition. Mark wants Claremont patients to associate the meals eaten during their stay more with hotel dining than traditional hospital food, whilst keeping health, nutrition and recovery at the forefront of his culinary ideas. Mark says Dietary needs vary from patient to patient it s a very personal thing and different patients will require different diets such as vegetarian, Halal and Kosher. Nutrition is even more important when someone is ill or recovering from an operation. We want people to come to Claremont and feel they ve had a very positive experience. Catering plays a big part of that, so we work with nutritionists to ensure we have the right mix of health and wellbeing without comprising on taste or quality. Mark Mortimer, Head Chef
