IEEE FINAL YEAR PROJECT (FYP) EXHIBITION DAY 2015 Date: 10th June 2015 Time: 10.00 am 5.00 pm Venue: MKP2 and MKP3, School of Manufacturing, UniMAP Participants: Nominated final year students, all lecturers List of IEEE Panels: 1. Dr. Hariharan Muthusamy Senior Lecturer Biomedical Electrionic Engineering School of Mechatronic Engineering UniMAP, Perlis. 2. Mr. Khairil Anuar (IEEE EXCOM ComSoc/VT Malaysia Chapter) Lecturer Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University Persiaran Multimedia, 63100 Cyberjaya, Selangor, Malaysia. SCCE s undergraduate students were honored for their work at the 2015 IEEE FYP Exhibition on 10 th June, which was jointly organized, by School of Computer and Communication Engineering (SCCE), UniMAP. and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). The exhibition, which was held at UniMAP Campus Pauh Putra, has been carried out annually since 2013 as the highlights of the final year project viva voce presentations. Thirty-six promising young engineering students are selected to showcase their final year project (FYP) through demo and poster presentations in the event. The selection featured various products in computer networks, signal processing, and communication engineering. Apart from promoting students innovation ideas and reward them for producing outstanding projects, the event creates a strong academic network between SCCE and IEEE Society. In addition, SCCE staffs will be highly acknowledged due to the successful supervision and monitoring of their students to produce excellent projects and products.
Objectives: Among the objectives of this exhibition are: i. To evaluate final year students viva voce presentation. ii. iii. iv. To recognize student performances by professional bodies. To expose the students with research exhibition experience. To establish a network between academic staffs and students in UniMAP with the IEEE oganization. Evaluation Process Prior to the event day, the examiners of FYP projects nominated the students with promising projects to participate in this event. Hence, only 36 nominated students were eligible to participate. During the event, each candidate had displayed their e-posters, demonstrated their projects (if any) and required to answer all the questions from the panels. Students' presentation had been divided into 3 categories: i. RK93 Computer Networks Final Year Projects (14 students) ii. iii. RK53 Communications Engineering Final Year Projects (13 students) RK20 Computer Engineering Final Year Projects (9 students) This event was divided into two (2) sessions. In the first session, all the students had been assessed by allocated examiners provided by FYP Coordinators. Then, based on the results provided by the examiners, 17 best projects have been selected to be evaluated by the IEEE panels in the second session. All these 17 students have received the Final Year Project (FYP) Merit Awards. The list name of the students who have been shortlisted as 17 best projects are shown in Table 1. The second session started at 2.30 pm where all the winners in the first round had been evaluated again, this time around, by the invited IEEE panels for the following awards: i. IEEE Communication Engineering Society Awards (2) ii. IEEE Signal Processing Society Awards (1)
iii. Best Project Award (3) iv. Best Man Award (1) v. Best Woman Award (1) Apart from that, one student has also been awarded Final Year Project Dean's Award by the Y.Bhg Prof. Dr. R. Badlishah Ahmad, Dean of SCCE.
