Upcoming Events & Activities National Brain Injury Awareness Month Most Traumatic Brain Injuries in the military and civilian sector are mild TBIs, also known as concussions. Concussions also affect our young people in the Army Family. Parents should be aware of the risks of concussion, understand what a concussion is, and what to do for their children if they ve been involved in a potentially concussive event. Most mild TBIs can be treated by your primary care physician. However, when needing future medical attention, your provider may refer you to Fort Campbell s Intrepid Spirit. More information about TBIs can be found at http://dvbic.dcoe.mil/ 13

Escape Planning Plan Ahead! If a fire breaks out in your home, you may have only a few minutes to get out safely once the smoke alarm sounds. Everyone needs to know what to do and where to go if there is a fire. 17

E.D.I.T.H Exit Drills In The Home Make a home escape plan. Know at least two ways out of every room. Have an outside meeting place (tree, light pole or mailbox) a safe distance from the home where everyone should meet. Practice your home fire drill twice a year. Teach children how to escape on their own in case you can t help them. Close doors behind you as you leave. 18
